Halloween Costume for horse/rider

I am going to an event at the end of October. The organizers have indicated that Halloween costumes are allowed/encouraged.

I would need to be able to ride the horse xc over fences (only 2’) so it can’t be too elaborate. I also need to be able to wear a helmet and a xc vest.
I don’t think I want to do dressage in costume. Just xc and stadium so it can’t be too elaborate to put together.

I don’t mind painting him with some finger paints.

My horse is white arab cross. His show name is Finnegan’s Irish Pub.

Current vague ideas:
Unicorn with rainbow tail, flowers on breastplate and mane. Fairy with wings or Princess.

Leprechaun, rainbow, pot of gold.

I did a paperchase as Batman and Robin. I could recreate that.

My family has a running joke about cows. So maybe he could be become a milking cow and I could be the farmer.

So go.

I like all your current theme ideas. Especially the unicorn.

One other idea is since your horse is white you could paint black spots on him as a Dalmatian and you dress up as Cruella de Vil?

This post from a few years ago has some examples of both a Dalmatian/Cruella and unicorn costume.

Minions.

Get a yellow sleazy for the horse and put an eyeball in the center of his forehead. You can put a blue “belt” around his neck. Then you dress in a yellow turtleneck and blue jean overalls. Get a yellow helmet cover.

I’m thinking of doing this for a costume class at a show Halloween weekend.

Oh man, I love Halloween! My barn does a fun show every year, and I can not WAIT.

We have been:
Pebbles and Dino from The Flintstones
racehorse and jockey
dragon and dragon tamer/hunter
Zombie horse and rider
Thing 1, Thing 2, and the Cat in the Hat
A friend won as Tinkerbelle and Peter Pan

This year, I’m teaming up with a friend who ALWAYS wins. She has two adorable little kids, and she always has great ideas (and they always win). I refuse to get 2nd place for the 4th year in a row! We’re gonna be candy, but I’m not sure how everything is working out.

Go on Pinterest. They have page after page of ideas!

I’ve always liked the costumes that actually would have had a real horse…like the spartans/gladiators, the headless horseman, jockey/racehorse, etc.
