Our spider braids were a big hit! I posted this pic on the Between the Ears FB page and it got over 4,000 reactions and 70 shares.

Found the spiders at Wal-Mart, and simply drilled two small holes through the thorax and sewed them into the braids with waxed thread. The only one that came out was second to the bottom where my rein kept catching on the legs.

There were several Barbies at the event I did today, as well as one tailgate spread with a Mojo Dojo Casa House sign and a sign saying “To be honest, once I realized the patriarchy wasn’t about horses I lost interest.”

I wore my Rainbow Brite costume and had fun!

We’re heading into spooky season again, anyone else have plans to dress up with their horse?

Manhattan and I are gonna be Wayne and Garth from Wayne’s World. Mostly because Manhattan can be a bit of a headbanger. He’ll be Wayne, cause he’s got the long black mane. I already have a Wayne’s World hat for him and just ordered a black saddle pad with “Party Time!” embroidered on it.

I’ve got riding jeans, a blonde wig with bangs, black-rimmed glasses and a t-shirt and flannel to wear as Garth. I don’t actually expect any of the kids at the barn to get it and I’ll probably just do the costume for photos and giggles. But the whole idea makes me laugh.

A friend and I are already planning, too. I think I am going to dress up like a little kid in (possibly unicorn) PJs, carry a plush horse lookalike, and put a dreamcatcher and clouds on horse and he be “a dream come true.”

Several folks at the barn are planning for the costume class at the year-end show. I know of a pony who may be a pinata, but nothing else determined yet.

Penny Forever makes some cool dragon “costumes” for horses. I think they look fun! https://pennyforever.com/products/dragon-wing-saddle-pad I’ve bought her non-dragon pads and shirts before, and I like them.

Oh, I wanted one of those when I did How to Train Your Dragon with another horse! I ended up making extensions to a plain pad

I don’t dress up anymore, but in the past I used to dress up my Miniature pony and go trick or treating around town. One year he was a clown. Took a clown wig, cut ear holes and tied it on, added a red pom-pom to his halter noseband, and wore a sheet with poka-dots. Another year he was Harry Potter. Used a witches hat, a cape, and painted a lightning bolt on his forehead. It was great fun.

My gelding is going to be Edward Cullen, he’s white and can be a bit angsty so seems appropriate. I’ll make him sparkly all over. The boyfriend looks a tiny bit like the Hispanic version of Taylor Lautner so he’ll be Jacob, and I guess I’ll just be Bella :joy:

My brother and I had very similar armor sets when we were kids! We played Narnia and fought over who was Peter

Some friends and I went out trick or treating on horseback one Halloween. We went as the James gang and we had a blast. People ran out to give the horses carrots and apples and take pictures with us. So much fun. If you have not done trick or treat on horseback - you must!

I wish I had some of those pictures.
