Looking at Muzzle season coming up, I am interested in recommendations for a good quality halter padding system. I have several ponies in muzzles and we swap the types of muzzles used. But looking to minimize rubbing as much as possible.
My mini wears his muzzle from 8A to 4P. It’s the Tough 1 Easy Breathe, cotton webbing w/rubber basket & no problem with rubbing.
Not what you asked, but I have a fair amount of luck wrapping halters in flannel. If you don’t have any flannel available, old cotton t-shirts also work.
I cut the flannel (or t-shirt) into long strips about 1” wide. Use a little electrical tape or duct tape to attach to one end, then just wrap around and around until you reach the other end. If using flannel, fuzzy side out.
It makes a good alternative for horses who turn fleeces into chew toys.
