Halter that will fit Arabians?

I have a Arabian with a very ‘arabian’ head. I am trying to get a new halter, but I am having issues finding one that will fit. Any of you guys have a specific halter from a specific brand you like, that fit your Arabs? My fav brands to get horse stuff from is Dover and Amazon.

Ideally I could find a halter that is dark green/hunter green.

Dover has that Hamilton Nylon Halter that I like (35$). Do any of you have this halter? Does it fit your Arab? Obviously I would get it in cob.

That is where we get ours, large variety of sizes and configurations with all their options, colors and embroidery.

Have you tried a yearling size halter? Sounds strange but they do fit some adult horses with short “dishy” heads.

(My mare is a Morgan but has that type of head. People often think she is part Arab. I have two rope halters for her, one a cob size and one a yearling size. The yearling size seems to fit her a little better.)

Schneider’s should have a good selection. Www.sstack.com

My Arab has a yearling sized halter; not sure of the brand. It’s a nylon one from a local tack shop which had many in different sizes. The crownpiece was a bit snug so I attached one of the the small leather breakaway tabs (the one with the screws) and it fits better now.

Look for 1/2" widths instead of 3/4" for finer heads.

Valhoma makes an specifically Arabian-sized nylon halter. At my local tack store, Valhoma halters are a similar price point as the Hamilton’s.

Their quality is good, and the straps are just a tad narrower so they don’t look bulky on a fine face.

You also could get a biothane halter marketed to endurance riders and it will probably fit closer to arab size than a regular halter brand. They cost more usually but they will last longer than a nylon halter if well-made. Taylored tack and Zilco both make quality tack.

I really like the Valentine halter on the site @Bluey linked…if I had a grey horse I would by tempted

Trying out different color combos on that website is fun!

Schneiders is a good place for arabian halters. It’s annoying buying a cob halter and finding it too big and a pony halter is too small, it all depends on how araby their head is. My arabs have all fit “ok” into a cob but I always try to ask for measurements and I measure the cheek piece.
