Han and/or Jumper breeders - interest in Stakkato mare? UPDATE!!!

Just curious what kind of interest breeders would have in an imported Han mare by Stakkato. Early teens, successful jumper in Germany and US up to level 7 (perhaps higher - it appears there may have been a name change at some time and we can’t find the records). Sound. Big - 16.2+

So, what kind of interest would you have?

TIA

I love Stakkato. From a breeders standpoint you would need to look at her uterus though:-)!

Stakkato is one of my favorites. THough he himself is not very pretty, his offspring seem to be while retaining his incredible jumping ability. I am also very attracted to his sons Stakkato Gold and Stalypso!

I wouldn’t.
They can jump yes, no question.
They often have his sire and grandsire’s small/clubby feet.

They can be unattractive.
And they can have his temperament.
Spartan (Stakkato’s sire) stood here for quite a few years before going back to Germany.
I had the “pleasure” of riding/starting 4. Yuck.
Stakkato has had a few colic surgeries, which makes me leary of his constitution. Yes, colics happen for all kids of reasons, but I dont want to breed to one who has that kind of history.
He is also the only son of Spartan who has really done much.

So no, because I want to love the mare and her parents, in order to use her for breeding.

Well, Ingrid may state things that are not wrong. But due to the fact that there are so many good offspring of him competing over here and so many good ones exist, I would say I would be interested, buuuut: I would really have a look at the maternal line. If she is german bred there a lot of options to find out more about the damline and what stems from it. And if I wopuld find a good damline behind - yes I would be very very much interested.
The clubby feet I heard for the first time.
But I have seen a lot of lets put it: not pretty heads (but who jumps level 7 with a head ?!)

A bit more info…she’s out of a G-line mare and I’ve got pics. She’s a big girl with at least a decent head. Hard to tell exactly from the pics, but certainly not a jughead.

Alexandra - I may PM tomorrow after I see her and see what you can find out about her mareline, if you don’t mind.

If you have get the lifenumbers of dam, granddam breeder

I purchased a 2 yr old Stakkato colt that colicked twice. The first time the surgery worked. The second time after opening him up it was decided to humanely euthanize him. After that I did hear that this was a problem with some others of his offspring. I personally have stayed away from any Stakkato offspring. Yes they can jump but this was a very expensive and heartbreaking experience for me. :frowning:

So I saw her the other day. She’s quite nice.

Alexandra - you have a PM. Thanks so much for your help!!

UPDATE

I brought Scampolic home today!! My favorite partner-in-crime and I bought her. Not sure if we’ll breed her next year or see if she wants to jump some more.

For those who commented on the importance of her damline, her damsire is 1993 Han Stallion of the Year - Galsritter and her dam’s damsire was Bumerang.

I’ll try to get some pics of her posted tomorrow.

Thanks for all your input!

Congratulations on your new mare

What is the registered name of the mare? I was hoping to look her up in the mare database. The breeding on the dam line sounds familiar to me.

Thanks,
Dan

We have an EMC Hanoverian mare who is out of a Stakkato mare, and she is lovely. Congrats on your purchase!!!

Dan, her registered name is Scampolic.

Good luck! Sounds like a cool mare.

That name is not showing up in the Hannoverian database. Is she registered Hannoverian or another breed?

Thanks,
Dan

I would guess this is her?

Best wishes. She sounds like a lovely mare.

The mother Grafina shows up in the database. Grafina’s bloodlines are packed with States Premium mares on top and bottom.

The part that is not shown on horsetelex is also very nice:

Yes, that’s her.

Dan - Thanks, we feel very fortunate to have lucked into her.

I will get some pics of her up. I think she’s lovely!
