What makes these preferable to my old faithful rubber curry mitt?
I bought the Handson gloves based on this thread and loooove them. Iâd say itâs much easier to really get into all the crevices with five fitted fingers as opposed to the mitt (ears and chins and under the fetlock and the like), plus the little nubs are considerably longer for a more thorough and deeper clean.
I just sent the link to my rider and told him he had to buy them haha
My mare, who disliked to be curried with a variety of curries, LOVES to be curried with these. And, because Iâm not trying to grip the curry, I can make it more like a massage for her. I love to curry her with them, and her coat reflects itâis gorgeous. I will say that they stretch, so get a size smaller than you think you need.
Iâve had mine well over a year, using them daily and I love them. The horses love them (except that one mare that hates all grooming tools), the dogs love them. They work on all body parts, but are especially good for nooks and crannies like under the chin, behind the fetlock and behind the elbows. I even rub them over the chestnuts to keep them smooth. They are great for shampooing in the wash rack and for currying hair off of saddle pads before tossing the pads in the laundry.
In winter, especially if you have a âHairy Larryâ sort of guy, the HandsOn would be much better than the one shown, because the nubs on the palm are much bigger. My gal does not grow long hair in winter, but it really gets thick. And the nubs do reach in there.
Also, they are of varying sizes. Large ones on the palm, and smaller on the fingers. That allows you to adjust, in an instant, what the horse experiences while being groomed. If he flinches a little from the big, just start in gently with fingers⊠easy peasy.
I might just be challenged, but I have never been able to keep one of those old faithful curry mitts stable on my hand. They always slide aroundâespecially when wet!
Because these are gloves, they stay in place and, because they are a pair, I can use both hands at once. I tend to âscrubâ with my right hand and âsweepâ with the left in a following motion. Makes grooming much faster.
I have a pair of these for my dog and my horse! They both love them They have different sized ânubsâ on the palm part and the tips of your fingers so you can adjust as needed. I also like that my hands stay clean and dont get as gross as they usually do at the barn haha
10/10 recommend
They are the best ever for horses and dogs and cats. I love them. Check around as retail is 29.95 but some places have them for 24.95 with free shipping.
I absolutely love these, and so does my mare. The best partâŠwhen they get dirty, just toss them in the washer AND dryer! I have had mine for just over a year and I wash and dry them at least every couple of weeks. They look brand new when they come out of the wash and have not shown any signs of wear.
My part boarder got a pair that Iâve been using for the last month or two and I love them! So much so that even though sheâs stopping and will presumably be taking them with her, I am planning on going out and buying a pair for myself. I hadnât seen them online at all though, so itâs good to know that they can in fact be used wet (I wasnât sure, so I didnât in case I wrecked hers).
I have a pair and have been using them for about a year and theyâre holding up great. I much prefer these to the nubbed grooming mitts.
I find with the mitts like ecileh posted, I have a hard time keeping them stable on my hand and they always slide around. Also, I like that I can use both hands at once and also switch back and forth between left and right hands. The gloves stay in place much better and easier on my hands. Love my gloves!
My horses did not care for them but the dogs think they are great!
Cat says ânoâ
But I didnât buy them for him
But your hands are nicely protected when he says âno.â
What a beautiful ragdoll. I was wondering if they would work for my cats.
