Handy dandy speed calculator

I wanted to know how fast I ran around this weekend’s event, and found a very easy speed calculator website:

http://www.unitarium.com/speed-calculator

  1. In the first line, plug in the official distance of the course in meters.
  2. In the second line, plug in your official finish time.
  3. Specify meters per minute, and it tells you how fast you ran the course.

So I ran the 2034 meter training course in 4:09 seconds, and that’s 490 mpm…much faster than the 420 mpm optimum time but not quite the 520 that will be needed at prelim if we make a move up. Nice to have an easy way to figure this stuff out. I thought others might find it helpful.

awesome!

Or we can work on those math skills that are so deficient in the US and simply divide the distance by the time in seconds.

2034/249=8.168x60=490

i think I’ll use the calculator. Makes it easy for an old fart. :-D. That pesky seconds to minutes calculation at the end is just too much.
