Hanoverian approved stallion Sport Ponies

OT: Just read that August Ellers has been died.
Sorry to hear this news.

He’s been discussed here before, but I really like the looks of Nemax: http://www.superiorequinesires.com/stallions/nemax.shtml

Have no idea if anyone’s tried his frozen, though.

OP, you might want to look at Wedderlie Mardi Gras. He is a Section B Welsh, about 13h, and approved for Weser-Ems breeding. You may or may not get a pony sized foal, though. If your mare has size in her bloodlines, she may throw more to her pedigree, even if you use a small stallion.

A friend has recently gone through this - I cautioned her a few years ago about breeding her 15.3h WB mare for a pony, but she was determined. Her mare’s sire is 16.1 and damsire is 16.3, and even though she used a 13.2 Welsh stallion, the foal is going to easily top 16h. ;)
I was going to suggest Mardi too, he is Weser Ems. I have two who I LOVE by him. I will vouch over and over again for what a wonderful stallion he is.

Here are my two Mardi babies, both pure Welsh.

You might also look at Goldhills Most Wanted, Gayfields Call the Cops, Smoke Tree Goldfever, and Clanfair Signature (I believe he’s only three, but this boy is NICE!!)… although none are approved Weser-Ems to me knowledge (for some reason I’m thinking that RPSI might accept offspring out of approved mares by registered Welsh stallions? Could be totally off base). Those are some nice B’s, you’ll end up with a large… there is a chance of going oversize though.

I also have a really nice Sec. A stallion, he’s producing super movers. He has some photos on my website. An A stallion would give you a better chance of staying pony, but it is definitely harder to find A’s that are the right “type” to put on horse mares.

Mardi is one I have been drooling over in the past already. Like him from the pictures a lot.

Mardi is approved Weser-Ems. I bred him twice to an imported pali WB mare and they produced two stunning colts. Movado and Masquerade are now owned by Stonefield Sportponies. I wish I could post pics becasue these boys are growing into stunning ponies! I will try to get pics on my website this weekend if anyone wants to see them.

Let me add this WB mare was 15.2hh and not from huge lines. I think both boys will stay pony size or close to it. I seem to have the opposite experience then most in that my crosses end up smaller than I expect, lol.

hluing - I’ll post them if you want - ellie@watermark-farm.net

We bred Belafonte’s dam to Wedderlie Mardi Gras and have a lovely, lovely gelding that is 14:1+ hands. He is 5 years old and just a super sporty dude. You can check out a bit more on him as well as a video of him at 2 (I’m working on a current video of him under saddle) here: http://www.avalon-equine.com/maserati.html

Here’s a photo of him, as well
