Happy Anniversary, Hammie!

I have NO idea where the original thread went to - it’s just gone poof! - but today is Hammie’s five-month anniversary! Can’t believe that five months ago exactly, I was using a pair of hoof clippers to cut him out of a barbed-wire fence.

Anyway, here’s a couple of shots of him from this weekend. He’s now about 8lbs (which makes him bigger than either Maximus or Tiny!) and completely, absolutely part of the family. (Though Maximus does sometimes give me a look like “Mum, he’s been here for a LONG TIME - when is he leaving?!”)

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been that long! He looks fabulous!

Where DID that thread go? I couldn’t find it, either! Hey, @Moderator_1 here’s another mysteriously poofed thread…

What was the thread title? There have been a few threads that have seemed to go MIA, and I want to see if we can identify the issue.

Thanks!

I think it was called “So I spent the morning cutting a kitten out of a barbed wire fence . . .” or something close to that. It was first posted in June. I’ve looked even in my posts, and can’t find it anywhere.

Ta-da! Here is the name and start date. (I love the wayback machine )

Thank you! Yes, that thread title should hopefully have some rather limiting search terms when used together…kitten, cutting, barbed wire… :smile_cat:

I’ll send it to the developers to see if we can figure out what’s going on.

Happy Anniversary Hammie!!!

I can’t believe it’s been that long either and how stinking cute he still is!

Love the Hammie :grinning:

Yes, he IS cute, and he knows it! Or should I say, “handsome, and boy does he know it!”

Here’s one I took last night - I lost my 18-year old Rascal last month to renal failure, and he was Hammie’s Uncle Rascal. He was the first cat to accept Ham, and the one he ran to when everyone else got mad at him, so Ham was pretty depressed for a bit. They all were, really - he was Uncle Rascal to almost everyone. But one of my barn cats, Nigel, decided to move into the house right about that same time (I think he’s a lot older than I realize, to be hones!), and though he’s been pretty shy around the others, last night Ham decided to curl up with him and Nigel gave his face a good washing. So now he’s got Uncle Nigel, I guess.

Yes, they do. And this came on really fast - last December, he was just pre-renal, and I thought with diet he’d be fine. But in September he started losing weight rapidly, and his numbers had gone from pre-renal to Stage 3. He had an upper-respiratory infection that it took a long time to get over, but even after that, he continued to decline, and we had to put him to sleep. I had to be the one to really let my vet know it was okay - it wasn’t, it never is, but Rascal had stopped eating the day before, we were expecting that ice storm in a couple of days, and I knew there just wasn’t any reason to put it off. Rascal felt awful, and I didn’t want him suffering anymore. But Ham took it hard.

Oh. I am so sorry to hear about poor ol’ Uncle Rascal. It’s hard to watch when they get so sick. Again, I’m sorry.

But Hammie…I saw the first pic and was thinking “Oh so handsome,” and then I saw the second pic. Hilarious. Shows he is still a kitten and is still just a little Ham. (haw haw bad pun intended…) Glad he has Uncle Nigel now. Thank you for my Hammie fix. lol

No, he is DEFINITELY a ham - a more apt name was never given to a cat! He’s still absolutely a kitten, though there are times when I toss the toy mouse at him and he stares at it like “Geez, Mum, give me a break.” And a mama’s baby deluxe - if I’m working on the computer, he’s in my lap, purring and giving me head-butts (which are starting to hurt - he’s HUGE!). Maybe he is part bobcat after all . . .
