Harness Trainer Dies of Coronavirus

I read your post earlier. Just saw this information and knew exactly who they were talking about.

From CNN:
[h=2]Seven family members in New Jersey were infected. Three are now dead, New York Times reports[/h]
Seven members of a New Jersey family contracted the coronavirus, and three of them have now died, according to the New York Times.

Grace Fusco, 73, died Wednesday without knowing that two of her eldest children also died before her, the Times reported.

CNN was directed to a representative of the family for comment but have not heard back.

A relative confirmed four other children who have the coronavirus remain hospitalized, with three in critical condition, according to the report.

Fusco’s eldest daughter, Rita Fusco-Jackson of Freehold, New Jersey, died Friday. Sometime after that, the family learned Fusco had the coronavirus. Fusco’s eldest son, Carmine Fusco of Bath, Pennsylvania, died before his mother on Wednesday.

A Tuesday night family dinner more than a week ago appears to the be the source of this coronavirus cluster, the Times reported.

The first person in New Jersey to die with the coronavirus attended that family gathering.

Grace Fusco has 11 children and 27 grandchildren, according to the report.

What a shame. It’s interesting that the entire family was hit so hard by the virus.

Add John Brennan to the list - he died on March 10. http://ustrottingnews.com/remembering-john-brennan/

Further to the Fusco family, Carmine’s brother, Vincent has now died; that makes 4 in one family. https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/03/nj-family-ravaged-by-coronavirus-loses-fourth-member.html?utm_content=nj_facebook_njcom&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=njcom_sf&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR1gBy0qqBZ5k1YhSGVILgHoHoCGg5G3gkUlyXggRXYlXBmT10MK7itnV_Y

it makes you wonder if they shared a genetic weakness that allowed it to be so devastating. What an overwhelming , tragic situation

hoopoe - there has to be something underlying because the only one in a higher risk category was the mother - the boys and their sister were in their 40s and 50s…and there are still a couple of kids in hospital in critical care. Haven’t seen anything more this morning re: Fusco family, just seeing an ever lengthening list of track closures

were they smokers? just curious

that info was not released,

Just found this article to update. https://www.nj.com/sports/2020/03/coronavirus-has-claimed-5-members-of-njs-harness-racing-community-horsemen-wonder-whos-next.html?fbclid=IwAR0AFFpdXcjLSexHIL0oecthRrixyvoQ58NoVBPFQQ-sFb-vafq9UVL8Sr8

I know someone who knew them all while working at the track.

Brennan was a smoker and generally “looked yellow.” Make of that what you will.

The Fuscos who trained seemed healthier. She doesn’t think they smoked.

It was stated in a newspaper article that Brennan had a number of underlying medical conditions. Nothing was stated about the family.

Thanks for the new info…vaguely remember hearing a good while ago that Brennan had some health problems, long before this virus hit
