Last I heard, the National Horse Show will still be in Kentucky. And Capital Challenge will stay in the same place.
I wonder about capital challenge. The facility they usecuse to cancel all events (through August so far) and it’s owned and run by the local county that was hardest hit in Maryland. I wonder if there’s a backup plan for an alternate facility.
The NAL finals were moved to capital challenge which I thought was awfully optimistic to your point. They must have some indication it is a go??
sad to see these shows go south but understand the reasoning. I’ts the same people for the most part except for the local competition.
CC posted previews of their prize list on their story a few days ago…but all shows at PGEC have indeed been cancelled through August. I was really hoping WIHS would move to PG but I heard they couldn’t get FEI approval.
“Due to to COVID we are moving the horse shows to a state that’s considered a global hotspot of COVID.”
Well friends, may the odds be ever in your favor.
🤦🏻”â™€ï¸ Let’s hope Florida is faring better when these shows come around … eek!
At the rate they are going and the leadership sticking their fingers in their ears and going “lalalalala” I doubt it.
The NHS comes after these two. Which means the kids will be finishing up their cross country horse showing fun just in time for Thanksgiving dinner with grandma and grandpa. Hope nobody sneezes in the gravy!
I’m in AA county, right next door, and stuff is closing back down to tighter regulations, not opening up. I can’t see PGEC being open this year at all, sadly. Unless they have a backup, like maybe at McD?
No way would I go to FL for anything right now. Both shows moving there seems like a really poor choice, but I bet if they run, people will go show  (And I say that as someone who has been to a show this year. But only locally.)
Exactly.
Ugh, I find it ridiculous…
And totally agree with what was said above. With the current state of Florida, I unfortunately do not see a huge improvement in cases nor management. It’s currently a huge hotspot, and yet that’s where the show is moved. It is going to be interesting, and I remain concerned…
Their lack of regulation is likely why it’s going down there. “Where can we have this show that it will most likely not be shut down and still run??”
What’s CC ? And PGEC ?
WIHS and FEI I know.
FFS. Yes, it’s a “the show must go on” mentality, and FL is one of the few states dumb enough to allow it. Disgusting.
Capital Challenge and Prince George’s Equestrian Center!
There are people who rely on these shows to make their living. I feel sorry for the communities around these venues that rely on the income to survive.
They canceled the fairs near me. Makes sense, as we are almost to August and cases are still high, and a fair would certainly Be a good place for spreading the virus. However, those food vendors who sell corn dogs and elephant ears rely on those fairs. They make their whole income for the year in the span of a few months. These people will lose their homes and their businesses. I wonder how many equestrians won’t make it out of this financially.
Even the RNC is cancelled. This is IDIOTIC!
I can’t begin to imagine what this might be like for some.
Why even have “indoors” this year? Everyone’s season is fubar’d and only people from certain areas (or the means to travel outside of their area) has been able to compete since March
