Anyone have any experience with his foals? From either a race or show perspective?

I have two and know many more. We don’t race so I can’t speak to speed, but they are lovely to live with, athletic and correct. Terrific disposition.
For a second there I was thinking of Jimmy the Hat. snort 'Not sure I’d want to be showing any of his foals. :lol:

He’s not prolific, but I’ve certainly seen several win races over the years. Not much more I know about him.

I’ve seen Harry the Hat in the past. Handsome boy. I’ve come across a couple of his kids on the track-- not much to speak of there. He’s had more success siring hunters and eventers. I see his name crop up in hunter breeding quite a bit.
He stands at Castle Rock Farm in PA for $1,000 Live foal. Ad says his average earnings per runner is $35,121…
I bought a lovely Harry The Hat several years ago out of Fasig Tipton. Ended up selling him before show season, and he won Devon as a yearling and three year old. Great mind, good mover, and one handsome horse. His name is Hats Off.

harry the hat
i used to ride at a barn with a trainer that bred several of her mares to harry the hat. he is a great hunter sire, but i know nothing about him as far as racing goes. one of her babies was sold to scott stewart to compete in the big hunter divisions from what i understand. horse had amazing presence and was very sensible from what i recall.
We pulled one from the kill pen, he had won around $60K but boy, could he jump! Excellent event horse, great mind.
A lot of people around here breed to him for sport horses. There are several that I know of who are eventing. They are typically good movers and good jumpers and known to have good minds. He really stamps them with very pretty heads and top lines…and usually good hair!
Very classic TB good looks with nice substance.
I know that one, Gaye Goldman bred him. Scott supposedly paid big bucks for him. He was a really really nice youngster. I believe he won on the line at Devon.
I have two yearlings by Harry and Peter G. told us that our mares were A ++ to him. They are both outstanding movers and very correct. I want to show the filly at Devon this year. I am the hunter part of the family and hubby is the racing part. So we have a battle going on where these two will end up. I think the filly should be a show horse and the colt the track. But he thinks both should race.
I have loved Harry for years! He has a great personality and even still looks great. For the money and especially if you are in PA I think he is worth breeding to. Peter will run the Jack Werk nick program and tell you if it is a good match.
Whenever I have seen Harry the Hat get, they have all been lovely and have displayed nice dispositions.
we sold our yummy Harry baby, “Ceilidh Dancer” when her owner started vet school. Filly loves to do, and much too nice to sit in the field. Pretty mover, pretty girl,bold, great jumper. Went to a good young rider in New England. You can see pictures of her on our farm website www.laurelsforge.com
A neighbor also has several. They all are really stamped by Harry. Bay with little white anklets and a star, super cute (think welsh pony)bodies and heads with little turned in ears,good toplines, hunter movement, easy keepers,smart,bold,people oriented.
If I had $ and needed another horse (shoot me now!) I would breed back!
I had a 3yo colt by him at the farm for 3 years for a client. He couldn’t race bc of field accident before he came to me- so he just sat around for 3 years at my place. He was the absolute coolest horse ever! What a great mind.
Never got out of hand. Never had to use a chain on him. Would stand for hours for grooming, baths, etc. Finally had to give him away bc owner stopped paying her bills on him and others. A local-ish lady took him, had him turned out with geldings next day. Gelded him that week and he was ridden/shown by a 9yo girl a few months later!
I’ve been thinking of breeding back to him just bc of that colt I had of his!
i do not know much about Harry. i have a tb in foal to him for May 2, hoping its gonna be a nice foal. The mare has produced MANY nice foals as well as Harry so hopefully it turns out wonderful.
