has anybody's horse got hot when feeding flaxseed (Omega horseshine)

I was thinking about adding flaxseed to my thoroughbreds diet to help his coat and weight and was wondering if anybody’s horse was hyper or spooky on it. I fed my horse cocosoya oil and he was so hyper on it and started acting like stud horse on it so I just wanted to see what other people’s experience was with the flaxseed (Omega horseshine)

It can happen, yes, but IME it’s pretty rare.

I would try plain whole flax first before spending $$$ on a bag of OHS. It will cost more per pound but you can conveniently get a couple pounds at a grocery store and try it out for a couple weeks.

If you’re wanting just the benefits of flax, then either just use plain flax going forward (many feed stores have or can get 40lb bags of whole flax), or there are several companies which make a stabilized ground flax product that will be cheaper than OHS, which is a very minimally fortified, stabilized ground flax that costs way more than it should (IMHO)

At local feed store OHS is 49$ for a 20lb bag. But whole flax in 50 lb bag is 27$. 49$ for 20 lbs is just nuts.
