I look at Youtube almost daily looking at the Fjords. Came across this Fjord who is going through the sale.
Is this the kind of sale where people dump their horses, like New Holland?

You must not have been at a sale where people dump their horses. It’s bad. Those horses are not marketed except to the extent that one might be ridden into the ring instead of herded in.
This horse is really being marketed and if this is an example of the type of animal at the Billings auction then it is definitely a step up from the cheap horse auctions which I have seen here, which are heartbreaking. That is my opinion.
No, I have not been to an auction like New Holland.
I haven’t been to either of them (or New Holland, FWIW), but both Billings and Hermiston (OR) have a pretty good reputation for quality animals.

Thanks!
What a nicely done sales video! And that’s no rescue.
Billings and sales like it in sparsely settled, rural areas are not a last resort for wrecked, abandoned or dumped horses that haven’t seen vet, farrier or a good meal for some time like some mentioned on here.
More of a matter of fact way to sell horses that have jobs to people looking for them. Kind of a blue collar environment, no marketing frills because those buyers don’t have time for them. Distances are vast and nobody wants to drive hours to look at a working type horse-so the sales bring buyer and seller together, some are quite social and fun to watch.
The Fjord will get a good home.
I’m glad to hear it. It gave me a bit of heart failure to see him there.
ETA: Just finished the video. Wow. Loved the water crossing video!
Billings has the full range, from canners to special sales where the prices go up into five digits. They usually don’t bring the canners to a special sale, where this Fjord is going to be sold. (I assume, I didn’t look at the link)
Wow, what a nice horse and a great sales video.
The listing says the Fjord rides and drives. They are saying that he is grade, but my guess is that his papers are lost. If he is registered Canadian, look for a microchip. If US breeding, get a DNA sample and work with the NFHR. Nice horse and he should make someone very happy.
This is the sales catalog for the sale he will be in: http://www.billingslivestock.com/Horse_Sales/PDFs/horsesaleupdate.pdf
And this is the website of his owner: mcnabblivestock.com
He’s well marketed for the sale and they will no-sale him if they don’t like the buyer. Odds are with him. When the sale is over the BLS website will say what he went for…
