Just as the title says. The most effective brand I’ve found locally is mui pricey and unfortunately out of the scope of my budget at the moment. Less expensive brands/kinds don’t have the impact on coat & skin condition i’m looking for. Other kinds of oils tend to give the wondermutt the runs. I was hoping for something I could pick up in the store or a website that offers free shipping on a regular basis. Ideas?
The CVS brand was found to contain exactly what it says it does. I can’t vouch for efficacy, though.
Well, that counts for something. Thanks Pancakes!
I’m a fan of Nordic Natural.
At Walgreens they oftentimes have two for one deals. I just bought a bottle of 100 or so capsules for about 20 bucks and received another container with the same amount for free! It’s much less expensive than buying through a pet retailer.
My dogs and I consume the same flax and fish oil capsules, usually Nature’s Bounty or Sundown, whatever’s on sale at the supermarket.
I use human fish oil capsules and joint meds for my dogs. They are much cheaper and with human-grade ingredients.
Any large pharmacy and/or supermarket will have them.
I buy these for my Dobe and have been happy with them (she gets 3/day and weighs 65 lbs).
If you have access to a Costco, their own Kirkland brand is what my husband’s been taking for years. Comes in a large 400-capsule jar; each gelatin capsule containing 1,000mg of pure fish oil - specifically states absolutely no fillers or carrying agents of any kind. I don’t know the exact cost, but do know that all of Costco’s Kirkland products (we buy quite a few) are of very high quality at more than reasonable prices.
you could try the red krill oil- much smaller volume needed = less likely to give the runs if the dog is sensitive.
Also less likely to be contaminated than generic fish oils.
I like this one. My dogs actually like it too!

I found this on Amazon but they are available elsewhere
We give the Costco brand to our golden retriever and have for 6 years. She loves them and has never had allergy or skin problems unlike many other goldens.
