Has anyone heard of Ioban for arthritis???

I’ve been experimenting w/ Adequan for my dog’s arthritis. A few months back we started the loading dose and after the first shot there was dramatic improvement. No change after the second or third so I didn’t go for any more shots.

Fast forward and I just took her to vet for another shot of Adequan and asked the vet if this didn’t help what’s the next thing he’d recommend. He said
he’d suggest Ioban. Never heard of it. He said it’s a glucosamine/hyaluronic
mixture. Anyone familiar with it? A google search turns up nothing. Thnx.

The only thing I found in a quick search related to veterinary medicine and the name Ioban is a sterile drape?

Yep, I saw that. I even had the vet’s receptionist double check the spelling.
Maybe I’ll call on Monday and see who makes it.
Thanks IPEsq.

The only thing remotely close I can think of is Ichon which is used in place of adequan sometimes.

Did you do the loading dosee of adequate shots? One every 3.5 days for 30 days?

I was prepared to do the loading dose but the vet’s brother (also a vet) was involved in the original testing of Adequan and said only four shots one week apart was the most effective loading dose. Any more after that and it was overkill and did not produce results. So the plan was to do four shots a week apart.

Marla 100, what is the dosage for dog use of Adequan? I was thinking about it for the barn’s dog (as in, I said they should ask the vet if it’s something that is safe to use for dogs too).

I wonder also if it’s ichon they meant? That’s actually what I’ve got and was going to see if we could use it for the barn’s dog. It’s made by Kinetic Labs in KY.

Solarflare, I don’t know what dose he gave my dog, but I recall in the past I’ve googled it and found the dosage based on weight.

Yes, Ichon is used the same way for dogs and I believe the same dosage.

They give the description of Ichon and the other like products as a lavage/drape for surgeries. Maybe that’s what your friend found? Anyhow, I’ve used Ichon and one of the others with the same description and had good results.
