Has anyone ridden with Sharon White?

So I am not an Eventer, I’m a Dressage rider. But I hang out with eventers and ride with some (it’s good for me!.) I was offered a spot to ride in a Sharon White clinic. A Dressage session.

I was wondering if anyone has ridden with her? I’ve been riding for 20 years but I’m a little shape from not riding since losing my horse. I will be catch riding (I’ve done that for other clinics.)

Just want to feel out her as an instructor. Thank you guys.

I can’t recommend Sharon enough for a clinic, dressage or jumping. She is lovely, positive, thorough, and challenging. She will not make you feel out of place at an eventing clinic at all!

I had hoped to ride with her this summer, but my horse had other ideas. But the couple of people I know who have taken lessons with her have said she is great.

Do it!

I have not ridden with her recently, but I have taken qute a few clinics with her in the past, as well as regular lessons. I always find her comments and exercises “to the point”.

In particular, one of my horses was being a complete PITA about a ditch. I was very impressed with her understanding about balancing “how much to push” against “not overfacing” both the horse and the rider.

My husband rode with her just last weekend at her farm and it was wonderful weekend of learning w dressage, xc and sj lessons. He also attends clinics whenever she is within 6 hours of our farm. I agree with everything the others have said - positive, thorough and still challenging. She is genuinely interested in helping riders of all levels on all types of horses. If you haven’t had a chance to ride with her or watch her teach, there was a recent podcast w her on Major League Eventing which should give you a feel for how she rolls. Link below!

I have great things to say about her teaching but wish she was more affordable. She comes to my area often and is always north of $300 for a one or two day clinic. Just not feasible for me or most riders of my demographic.

I think her own prices are pretty reasonable. What you may be dealing with is what the host charges to cover their own expenses for hosting her plus Sharon’s day rate. Here in the Northeast prices are usually $350 or $375 for two small group lessons at the different clinics where my husband rides with her.

Yes, she comes to my area often. Her prices are always $300-400 no matter the facility so I don’t believe it is a matter of host charging/inflating the price.

My compliment still stands about her teaching though. If you can afford it, it is worth it. I’ve audited several now.
