I just stumbled upon them for the first time 15 minutes ago. THEY LOOK FRIGGIN COMFORTABLE! Especially when I take my boy out on trails and for riding in summer when I prefer to ride in shorts (I know I’m a bad person. Shame on me). My only concern is I wonder if these have a weight limit and I wonder if it would be safe for my horse because he has mild kissing spine, mainly in his lumbar region. If it distributes the weight well enough the bit of flexibility might be actually a good thing.
Hum - I am highly skeptical of the design. How do they prevent pressure under the stirrup hanger? How do they keep pressure off the spine? How is this STABLE side to side without any sort of tree or rigid support?
I see that they CLAIM that its wonderful, stable, doesn’t affect the spine / withers, but I do not see HOW it accomplishes all of that (but comes in pretty custom colors of course). - the plastic (?) tube along the spine is supposed to do all of this?
I think I would rather get a sheepskin saddle cover for a saddle that I know fits:

I would be
I don’t know how but I’d love to see if anyone has used them. Who knows, maybe they are magical and we just don’t know about them.
It looks like it would be comfortable, but upkeep must be a PITA. I have a pad with the sheepskin panels in front and back and it looks cool and is fine in the arena, but on the trail it accumulates burrs, debris, and dirt very quickly. I like sheepskin under the saddle against the horse but all it accumulates there is dirt and sweat which can be hosed out. Picking out burrs and bits of twigs is a nuisance.
This company offers something similar but provides more detail on how the saddle distributes weight.
Scroll down to see their bareback saddle.

All I have are flat fields so burs and twigs are no problem!

Might be a good option then. As always, our individual circumstances dictate what will work for us.
