Has anyone tried this Herm Sprenger bit (maybe not available in the US?) Satinox bit

I was curious if anybody has tried this but from Herm Sprenger? I found it on a German website and I did not see it on the Hermes Sprenger USA site. For the price I’m a little curious!

It’s cheap because it’s stainless steel rather than the Aurigan or Sensogran bits that are popular nowadays. Otherwise it’s a french-link albeit slightly gentler with the rounded lozenge, with a curved mouthpiece that is, IIRC, gentler on the corners of the mouth.
There are similar bits that are even cheaper available on the market, it all depends in what you’re trying to achieve with your horse.
I’m currently working through various bits with a horse that is very chompy in the mouth, currently favouring a KK Ultra Eggbutt for stability.

It’s stainless steel but it looks like it has a matte finish? I have a couple other Hermes Sprengers in the Aurigan but this intrigued me. I have a loose ring that he’s going in right now. Although I think I would prefer an eggbutt. The D ring HS that I have is actually a true french link (not the bean) So I don’t want to use that one as I believe they are no longer legal and I think he prefers the bean anyway.

I thought about their copper plus line but the eggbutt is a little bit on a thicker side and I think he’d prefer something thinner so just the bit pictured above. There’s definitely cheaper bits out there but I like the quality behind the H.S line. It’s a brand that I trust.

I’m trying to not spend $200 for a bit on a young horse if I can help it! Lol

I know that feeling! Now on my third trial bit, each about £150, but at least the trial costs are around £20. The costs still mount up :frowning:.

Also I’m now supremely pissed off about selling some of my old bits off cheap which might have been good for him.

Yeah I try not to sell any bits just in case but I start to feel like a tack hoarder after awhile! But you never know.

Although with the prices these days it’s hard not to sell some off.

I use https://www.horsebitbank.com/horse-bit-bank and https://thehorsebitshop.co.uk/ in the UK, I don’t know whether there are equivalent bit hire places in the US.

I buy from them too, Im in Canada. Great company.

From the Calevo or horsebitbank? I’ve ordered from Calevo once and it was a great experience.

No experience, but my local (US) tack shop carries it.

Free shipping over $75. I don’t think they do bit trials any longer, but you can always call and ask.
