Has Anyone Used a CatBib to Stop Cat from Catching Birds?

Let me preface this by saying I know cats are natural born killers, but I am a softy and hate it when my cat catches a bird. Happened again on the weekend although I was there and grabbed my cat so she let go and the bird flew away (hopefully it survived!).

Sidney is not an outdoor cat - but does go out on my deck regularly. I know I can make sure she only goes out when I do to prevent bird deaths, but was wondering if this bib thing works:

Has anyone tried it?

I have no experience, but I’ve never seen those before until now and I think you just made my night. That is hilarious!!
Every one of those cats looks positively murderous, and I’m not talking about avian-icidal, straight up homicidal.

It looks like a good invention actually, plus it’ll bring some levity to the neighborhood…

Definitely bring levity to the neighborhood…I’ve never heard of them either!

The best thing we did was to stop feeding the birds, as much as I love to birdwatch. It’s just too much of a temptation for the cats, and puts the birds in a vulnerable position.

Birds might be safe, but I think my cat would murder ME in my sleep if I made him wear one!

LOL this is hilarious!!!

Aside from effectiveness, potential entanglement and similar risks to the cat…

If someone wanted to try this, cut an old computer mouse pad into a big triangle, slice two slits, and slide the collar through. Custom CatBib!

In all seriousness, I understand domestic cats killing birds is a problem in the millions.

It is pretty funny, I admit! The product is from Australia where they’ve recognized the huge problem cats have caused on the bird population. Was curious if anyone had seen it here as I hadn’t!

Bicoastal - the site claims that there is no entanglement/risk to the cat. They have posted studies to support this, FWIW.

I am sadly realizing I may have to take my feeder down for the summer time. My nerves can’t handle another incident
