Has anyone used Arthramid?

Recently discovered severe knee arthritis in my 20 year old pony who’s being leased by a kid. after reviewing x rays with surgeon, my vet (who I love) recommended arthramid to keep him comfortable enough for crossrails. I had never heard of this and can’t find much online, wondering if any of you had experience? Thanks!

I’ve used Noltrex (also a polyacrylimide hydrogel) in several joints for years. I love it - it lasts longer than HA and if you have a horse that can’t tolerate steroids, it’s very useful.

There is a rehab period involved after the injection, but it’s gotten shorter over the years as they’ve gotten more research done.

I have not used it in a knee, but my vet has and the clients were very happy with the results in a racing Standardbred (so very heavy work).

I’ve used Noltrex twice in stifles. The vet can even use a small amount of cortisone with it since the hydrogels can cushion the joint well but not always address residual inflammation. I think Arthramid is a bit more difficult to get in the US. But I think Noltrex is from Russia so go figure that one.
It takes a few week to be effective IME as well so patience is needed afterwards.

Definitely patience! I have found it takes about 2.5 weeks in mine to really feel the difference.
