Has Hell frozen over? Someone check, because I just bought some rust TS breeches!

Yup, I was on my way to the dentist and I actually got this psychic urging to stop at the local tack shop. It was like a voice in my head, telling me to stop and shop! And there they were, calling me! Brand new TS rust breeches, in my size, for a modest sale price! I couldn’t resist.

I know my trainer hates rust breeches. But then, she won’t wear a brown coat because, “I’m a ‘spring’ and I can’t wear browns.”

Just wait. I’ll wear the rust at some schooling shows, then, when I’m at a 3-day show, and already doing well, I’ll just arrive from my motel wearing my rust breeches for the day’s classes. Can I have a dollar for everyone who makes a comment or stares impolitely?

I love my TS rust - for some reason they fit me alot better then my beige ones (same size, style - go figure). Unfortunately I have a gray horse - so rust is really not an option. However - I LOVE the TS gray - can we bring back that color too??

I SWEAR, I AM GONNA BRING THOSE GREY TS BACK!!! I am getting sick of the TS green!!! It’s been popular TOO LONG!! It’s time for a change!!! I am sure the judges would LOVE A LITTLE VARIATION! SINCE EVERYONE LOOKS THE SAME NOW A DAYS!!!

Don’t even front!

Take a look at those flashy horses - Overdressed, for example.

And look at those flashy hunter stallions - Viscount, for example.

So there. Sister.

What color are the breeches on the COVER of the 3rd edition of Hunter Seat Equitation???

I’m planning on wearing mine with my brown plain GP jacket with coordinating rust stripe, along with ivory shirt and light brown/tan monogram…

OK, I might be showing my age, but I like rust britches. I don’t think I’m old, but when I hear you guys talking about how bad they are, I feel old. I showed "A"shows in 1980-81, and rust was THE color! Paired with brown field boots, they looked great! I think they are alot more becoming than the ugly green-beige that TS has.
(But then, I don’t think canary was THAT bad, either!). Any color coat looks good with them,
they hide dirt, are slimming, and conservative…as long as they are rust, not orange-red. Come on, bring back the rust!!!

Black coat with burgundy and tan pinstripe, pale pink monogrammed shirt, and rust britches! Looks good on a chestnut!

I would love to bring back this combo!

And a cut off sparkly silver tank top!

Good Luck on your greenie!!!You’ll look marvelous!

Dublin - you picture is in BW so I can’t tell. But I will take your word for it and rethink my “no rust/brown ban” on my gray.

I believe they are quite rust, or brick as we called them way back when. And I do believe the master is wearing them while riding a chestnut horse. Looks awfully good to me. But what do I know…

It’s true! I saw a rider actually competing in a jumper class (Training 1) wearing rust breeches and a yellow polo shirt. Actually, the color combo looked pretty good.

Has nothing to do with rust breeches (though I’d bet they look sexy ) but I just noticed that Merry registered to this board on my birthday

I am curious if there are any judges on this board that could really say that what color you wear really makes a difference. I mean, do you think the judge sits there and says, ‘That color of breeches/jacket/shirt is sooooo out this year!’? I think as long as your clothes fit well and are not too outrageous (purple breeches with bright orange jacket and hot pink shirt with a neon blue scarf flying around your neck) you will be fine in the show ring.

I love rust breeches and used to wear them for the hunters. If I was doing Eq it was a little more traditional to wear a lighter color breech. I am also planing to wear my rust breeches for some of my jumpers. I don’t care if it is in style or not. In normal life I don’t even dress in style.

People all over the world have their own styles. Some people wear what is popular and some people don’t and still look great. Some people wear the classics and some people wear funky clothes. Thank g0d we don’t judge everyone in real life like we do here in hunter/jumper land.

Yay rust!!

Oh, I forgot to mention that fashion IS cyclical! It will ALL come back into style again (and again).

Pssstttt… I’m buying the TS taupe next! They look really nice with my dark navy coat and my pastel lavender shirt. I mean, come on! A lavender shirt and the brassy green breeches? Are we lemmings, or what?

Duffy has a chestnut…She is thinking about sporting some rust breeches this season…then you gave your opinion on rust breeches on chestnuts - I wonder what she will do now!

Her horse doesn’t have tons of chrome, just a blaze. Is rust still a NO NO for her in your book?

Love ya RJ!!!

PamM: Is that photo from Pomona or Santa Barbara? I think I wore the same rust-breeches outfit when I won a Foxfield Medal— and your trainer, Linda Hough, was the judge!

And, I must tell you that I wore my new rust breeches on their inaugural ride at my greenie’s schooling show this past weekend. And no one made any snide comments. (Although, if truth be told I fumbled around to get my cumbersome, silver-encrusted Brighton Belt unbuckled and it slid thru the belt loops and half-way into the port-o-potty… now THAT I could’ve been kidded about).

Hmmm… so the BB thinks I should now purchase a new, deep green coat to complement the breeches? Gosh, I’d hate to disappoint you guys. (Feeling the magnetic pull of credit card from wallet…)

Fellow Libra, eh Tin?

I used to think rust was a “funny” color for breeches…sort of “old ladyish”, but now that I’m older and wiser (good taste I’ve always have, he heh), I also bought myself a pair of TS breeches in rust last month; I really love the color. Can’t wait to wear them.
