Haul-A-Stall -- Anyone have one? Worth it?

We have a dealer who serves GA for Haul-A-Stall and I like what I see.

I would probably ask for one for my birthday in February, but before Mr. C’Mare lays out that cash for me, I wanted to get the COTH stamp of approval or disapproval. I would also be getting the canopy for it.

Thanks!

I saw one of these at a trail ride, worked very well. Kind of small though if you are going to be camping very long.

I kind of like my picket line kit — and it cost me $70.00

You can do it a LOT cheaper by just buying lightweight/gauge panels and adding the canopy. You can get the canopy hardware at many tarp & tool places, for like $3 a fitting, and your own pvc pipe (for weight–regular pipe if you’re not concerned about it.)

The pipe panels I have that are light guage don’t even have pins to lose. The ‘hooks’ are attached. Takes me about 5 minutes to set them up into a 12 x 12 box, and I don’t use a special gate, just swing the front panel. I paid $60 per panel. a 14 x 14 tarp, figure, um… $30, and the pipe fittings & pvc for the cover? Another… $50 TOTAL.

I like it! But, I would want to see what it looked like all packed up – how much space does it take up, how much does it weigh, how hard is it to set up, etc.

for me, camping, if it’s high daylight, I’m riding. If the weather turns, I keep waterproof rugs in the trailer.

for 200 tops I can have a portable electric corral. For less than 100, far less, I can highline them. I don’t see spending 900+ on this. YMMV.

Saw a horse spook and just go right through a similar portable corral w/o roof last summer. He wasn’t hurt but it was an impressive spraying of panels.

For me, for the price- nah. If I’m camping out of the truck, as opposed to back country, mine either highline or tie to the trailer. Actually, for much less you can get one of those extended arms for the trailer, I’ve pondered that myself although mine are content with current arrangements.

Wind tunnel tested to 40 MPH? That wouldn’t last around here!

Pintopiaffe, I’d like to see your set up. I have a mare who paws and might beat up my trailer if I tie her, so I’m considering some kind of corral, I’d been leaning toward electric. But I think I might do both for competition rides for security.

Pricey. I bought 8 four foot panels of galvanized steel that interlock to form a 10ft stall or round pen and paid I think $500 and have had it ten years or more. They pack in the front of my walk through trailer or in unused side of it which is a two horse goose, with room to spare. Super easy to set up and has come in handy multiple times with a hurt horse on restricted turn out as I could set up the stall outside the barn and let the horse get sunshine and grass but not be able to move around too much and reinjure itself. Have set it up to corral a hard to catch horse on the spur of the moment, etc. Took it on endurance rides and found that my horse was much, much more comfortable. I never liked stationary or picket line tying my horses, particularly after a long strenuous ride as it seemed cruel to keep them so movement restricted and I wanted to allow for more freedom of movement. It’s been one of the best purchases I ever made. Got it from an outfit called Circle A Arenas, I forget where but could probably dig it up if anyone really wanted to know.
