Called on a Canter pony, who ended up already entered in a race next week, since no one had called until we did today. Guess it’s possible to watch him race, vet him and bring him home? Thoughts on this scenario and his pedigree? Thanks so much!

Depending on how comprehensive you are, there’s a good chance the horse won’t pass his vetting post-race. It’s not uncommon for horses to be body sore for a few days afterwards.
Otherwise, if you’re interested, there’s no reason not to.
Yes my first OTTB had one last chance to race well before they would sell her - I watched her finish sixth and took her home two days later.
Looks like we will watch him race on Tuesday and then PPE and pick him up Wednesday or Thursday if he passes. Any comments on his breeding?

Toccet was kind of a plain brown wrapper who sired plain brown wrappers. Nothing wrong with them at all, but most I have seen are your average thoroughbred in every way. Bay, not particularly big, put together decently, ok movers, typical TB temperaments. Good runners in the sense that they were workmanlike, but not superstars.
People say good things about Sweetsouthernsaint. That was not my experience with any of his get, so if you can’t say anything nice… but I think my experience was atypical.
The most important thing is the horse in front of you.
Thanks so much Texarkana! Good info and thanks for being so truthful, I really do appreciate it.
He is certainly nothing close to a plain brown wrapper! And you are right, each pony is an individual for sure!

He looks very cute! I’ve only seen a couple Toccets but they were also pretty flashy. Awesome Again sons tend to make big shoulders, athletic types, and pretty durable/sturdy, with solid minds.
Good luck with him!
He sure makes me eat my words! I hope everything works out!
Never have, but a friend of mine bought a horse after the race after she saw him trot in the warm up…he was a stunner, large, elegant and good temperament. II called him a Munnings horse). Turned out he was also a good hunter…something we don’t usually get the chance to assess off the track.
Love to see Cozzene in the bloodlines.
