Hi,
I am going to stick my neck out here as a new girl to this forum and hope I don’t get blown away.
Its been awhile since I have had horses and am looking into possibly getting them again. Honestly no rush though. I have been looking at this and that just trying to refresh if you will.
then…
I came upon some videos on youtube that really had me on both sides of the fence with this guy. I was hoping to get other peoples input because I’m not sure if I stand alone on these thoughts or not.
The videos are “Think Like A Horse”
has anyone seen these? On some respects, he has learned about natural care, and that’s what I practiced mostly as long as I was in the position to.
But man…
this guy… he does put women down a lot and then takes it offensive when they say something. He can’t take the heat in the kitchen he created. He decides he will put men down to show he isn’t sexest, but then blames the men on the women in the horse world. It doesn’t seem to me that he has real control over his horses when he handles them, and some of his videos are titled one thing, but hit on another, if they hit on anything at all at times. You get many times, a 15 minute video and 3 minutes of information that’s worth having. He doesn’t seem to practise what he preaches in some of them, and well, I just don’t know. He made one video where the whole thing is all about making fun of the names people name their horses. I feel the name chosen makes no difference in the care they receive. Sometimes its children that names our animals. So I guess he feels like a big man making fun of them? This coming from someone that named his mustang Mr.T… And his other horse is Buddy, which is a cute friendly type name itself. He doesn’t seem to realize that some people board and don’t have a lot of say in the yards they are kept in. One of the things he is convincing people of, is that horse people are woman dominant, so therefor all or most the issues are because of women. I see lots of horsemen. A rodeo alone is male dominant. And I have seen many male jumpers, trailers. Huntsman seem to be male dominant as well… Am I wrong here? I think its pretty equil between horseman and horsewomen… Do you agree?
In the comments people say that he puts people off at first, but then he makes sense and there are a lot of beginners going to him for advice. I do see where he’s giving good advice in some areas, but then not so much in others.
From what I can gather, he’s only had horses for 2 years. And these are the only 2 horses he has had. Now he’s an expert.
Am I Being harsh? Because I even tried to like the guy and watched a lot of what he had up… And I just kept finding issues with him. So I was just wondering what you might think. Thanks…
