Having boot elastics shortened?

Where would I go to have my stretched out Prestige open front boot elastic closures shortened? They’re WB sized, purchased for my last horse, and otherwise fit well on my bigger-boned TB, but they’re starting to slide more and more and its very frustrating.

Ideally I’d like to look into getting the entire elastic replaced because they’re the old brown/caramel and I’d rather have black/white that the new Prestiges have and that would match my show bonnet/half pad/etc, but if that’s cost-prohibitive then just having them shortened would be fine too.

Should I see if Prestige will do it? Talk to a local craftsman? What kind? Hoping to not break the bank, considering I already sunk quite a bit of money into them.

Beval does just about any repair and always does a great job although they are not cheap. You could check their website under workshop services for cost estimates. Have you checked with your local tack shop or cobbler. The ones in my area do all kinds of repairs.

Bartville can do this and you can mail the boots back/forth. They replaced one elastic on my prestige boots. It’s always the Prestige boots?! This isn’t the first thread random! Anyway they 100% replaced the elastic for me (with plain brown) and it wasn’t super pricey, maybe $20ish?!

A good shoe cobbler can do it.

Most local saddle repair places can handle it easy. Some are affiliated with tack shops…see who your local shops recommend. Don’t be afraid of Western shops, any good leather guy can replace them.

You might try contacting the guy that does the Prestige warranty work for saddles (saddlewerks.com is his website). He might know if the elastic you want is available to order from Prestige. However, it might cost less just to see what someone local to you can do with non-Prestige parts. I had a CWD girth that needed elastic replaced and to get the CWD elastic (in their colors and not available anywhere else that I could find) rivaled the cost of a new girth, which is not cheap! Thinking it might be similar for Prestige.
