I am looking at buying a new Hawk 2 horse bumper pull trailer soon. Does any one have experience with this brand? What do you think of the quality, features, etc.?
If I were buying a new trailer, that’s exactly what I’d buy. Well designed, well built, horse friendly and handler friendly. I don’t think you can go wrong.
I don’t know about the new ones, but I am happy with my 2004 Hawk
my neighbor had one and took it all over the country and liked it a lot. I think she said it is similar to a trailet and was built by a former employee of trailet.
It is very similar to the EquiSpirit, which is one of the highest-dollar and most prestigious brands.
After a long, overdone research process, I chose Hawk as the brand I wanted when a replacement trailer became necessary, and then had to comb the country for one that was geographically accessible (in some manner) as they are not common where I live. Found a dealer who helped me get one and am very happy with the quality-to-price of the one I have.
And for what it’s worth, when all the doors and windows are firmly shut, the interior seems to be thoroughly sealed. It is common in this area for certain buggy fauna to invade trailers that are not in immediate use, and that hasn’t happened so far in the couple of years I’ve had my Hawk.
I had a two horse straight load built to
custom specifications and have been very pleased with my Hawk. The low ramp is very inviting to all horses, and the quality is exceptional.
Great trailers. They built my Equispirit that protected my horses when it was t-boned by a pickup truck. The pickup was totaled. My trailer needed repairs. My horses didn’t have a scratch. Hawk rebuilt/repaired my trailer and I’ve had many great miles with it. It’s over 15 years old. Love it.
I’m with all the other posters. When I was trailer shopping many years ago, I looked at lots of models and manufacturers at the yearly HorseExpo. The fit and finish on the Hawk line was far superior to any thing else – smoothness of welds, solidness of hinges, clips, doors, and ramp, etc. I did a custom order on mine to fit a Very Large WB I owned at the time. The trailer was delivered on-time, on-spec. it has been on many long-haul trips in all sorts of conditions and has performed perfectly every time. Best money I have ever spent on a large piece of equipment.

Yup. Love my Hawk. Mine’s a two-horse side load bumper pull – extra long, wide and tall in my case. Horses can face backwards, unload out the rear, or you can configure it to have the horses face forwards if you prefer. The space between the stalls and tackroom bulkhead is big enoug to accomodate hay bales or, in my case, my PARA dressage student’s electric scooter. Versatile and very well built. Worth the price!
Loved mine. In fact the lady I sold it to is selling it now if anyone needs an awesome 2 horse gooseneck with tackroom.
It’s a great company with solid build quality. They haul well and are easy to maintain.

Add my vote for Hawk. I live an hour away from the factory, and my Hawk is a 2005 but is in excellent shape. Very well built trailer, and I’d buy one again in a heartbeat.
This is all sounding very good, thank you all for the input. I thought Hawk made an excellent product but always good to hear first hand what owners think.
adding my “thumbs up” - had a 2003 plain ol’ bumper pull/no dressing room that I bought new. Reasonably priced, nice build quality, and the horses loaded and hauled great in it.
Love mine. I have a 2007 and it’s still in excellent condition. It tows great. Love love love the hay manger bags, No hay bags to stuff. I would buy another in a second.
Love my 2017 bumper pull Hawk. A few modifications I did were the adjustable chest and butt bars (I have one warmblood and 1 pony), shelf and bar in the tack room, and I have the battery for power.

Another Hawk owner here. Two horse bumper pull with side unload; I’ve never had a horse refuse to get on, possibly because they see how they’re getting off? It’s worth it to add the extra windows and rumber floor. It’s easy maintenance, and the insulated ceiling really keeps the trailer comfortable even in the summer. Very solid trailer that pulls beautifully, even when a horse decided to do some gymnastics back there.

I have a 2000 BP and a 2017 GN 2+1. The 2000 is still in great shape. I’ve had no trouble with either one aside from maintenance like new plywood in the ramp, or damage done by a horse. That said, sometimes the butt/chest bars do require some wiggling to get the pins in all the way. My friend has a 4Star with really nice pin mechanisms for the bars. That feature probably isn’t worth the much higher price of the 4star, but it would be nice.
If you’re ordering new, definitely add the windows in the upper rear doors. I also have adjustable height bars on my newer trailer because I have ponies.
I have a 2000 2H that I just bought used, love it. My Kingston rusted out beyond repair but this trailer seems to be a whole lot higher quality.
I have owned 3…2 straight load 2 horse a TB model custom and WB model as well as a custom 2+1 bumper pull…exceptionally well built w/ horses in mind, tow great and when re-sold or traded hold their value really really well…
I love my Hawk. It is bright and airy and cool (I live in the Southeast). It seems to be much more horse friendly than my previous Featherlite.
