Headphones in Lesson

I’m currently riding with an instructor who uses a communication system (I think she has the eartec). We each use our own headphones but it can be tricky to keep them in. I’m currently using some small ear bud type although I have used the kind that hook over your ears and those haven’t been any better for me. I finally got the idea to try to find something that was more like a clip on speaker rather than headphones but I’m not sure what to search under.

Has anyone else had this problem? What do you use? Thanks!

My trainer uses a system that has an earpiece that slides over your ear and hooks behind it. It stays on pretty well just by itself, but the helmet straps also help keep it in place. Look up Axiwi.com and you’ll see examples on their website.

The earbud things never really worked for me, except the ones that Nike makes that are for small ears.

This was the style headphones I used when we had that system. This was the only style that was comfortable for me.

I use run of the mill normal ear buds and have no problem with them falling out.

Your earbuds fall out because they are too big. You need some soft ones like these, that have exchangeable pads in S/M/L.

Some people’s ears are just not shaped for earbuds during exercise, or at all for that matter. Try some that go over the ear. We use an eartec system and pretty much any headphones will plug into them.

Old school, with a headset going over the top of the helmet and a stretchy alice band securing it.

Try the Skull Candy ear buds with the soft piece that goes in your ear.

Agree! Earbuds (of any size) never stay in my ears. I use Skull Candy or another brand that hooks over my ears - try a few pairs on until you find one that works. Your helmet will help keep them on, but it is important to find a set that fits YOUR ears best.

I figure some day, they will just have them implanted into us at birth, and we can just hook into them with whatever device we are using

In a pinch where we only had earbuds, I pulled my hairnet down to my earlobe and it held the earbud in ok.

check out the CeeCoach
System. They use the Jabra noice cancellation earpieces with interchangeable earpieces. It is a bluetooth system. It is really cool. designed by the same company that designs the Mercedes Benz automotive bluetooth system. I tried them out at World Cup and bought them right then and there! http://www.ceecoach.de/?lang=en

I use a thin headband that runners use. It hurts to push it into my ear, so this holds it in place and I can still hear.
Somewhat like this

I kept having problems with a) earbuds falling out, b) work-out/riding sweat ruining the sound. So I went and bought a sports style headphone .

I’m actually not in love with how clunky they are to put on and take off, but guess what? They stay in when I am riding, they stay in when I am running. Even if I sweat so much that it gets into one of the ear pieces and the audio goes away (it’s happened a couple times now), the audio always comes back once it dries.

Totally worth it.

I thought of a trick I use that may be helping to keep the earbuds in place. Before inserting into my ear; I loop the cord around my helmet strap so that there is no tension on the earbud itself. YMMV
