Heartbreaker Offspring

Tell me about your Heartbreaker babies.

Did you breed or buy them?

How old are they, and what are they currently doing?

Tell me about the dams breeding.

We have a Heartbreaker mare that we purchased several years ago (bred by the Nijhof Stud who owns Heartbreaker) who at the time was under saddle. When she arrived (age 13), I rode and jumped her for the first year that she was with us to get a “feel” for her strengths and weaknesses to give me more insight into what she would produce.

I found her very rideable on the flat (having been trained in Dressage), but over fences if I were to get into a fight with her, I had better be in a position to win the fight. Or, to avoid a fight all together, I would have to make her think that it was her idea.

In general, I found her very brave, very eager to jump, but quite stubborn. Definitely not hot, more of a push ride, but not overly dull either. Her dam’s bloodlines are Ramiro x Uppercut xx. She could use a bit more elasticity and quickness in the foreleg over fences, she has good scope and a very balanced canter (Free jumping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROs5QTFRWmM)

I hope this helps a bit!

I appreciate the feedback! I recently purchased a young Heartbreaker mare (Rio Grande is the dams sire). I have been around more diluted Heartbreaker’s but nothing actually by him directly.

I read a lot about them being a bit quirky.
