Heel lifts for tall boots

So, between procrastination, busy days at work, and a forgetful nature, I’ve still yet to take my sexy brown Vogel field boots in anywhere to get them shortened. Which, after my epiphany today, is a good thing!

Overhearing customers talking about heel lifts for boots finally set off the lightbulb in my head that maybe THAT’S the right answer for my ever so slightly tall boots. Cheaper, quicker, and allows them to keep their sexy height, which makes my not so sexy legs look longer. They are borderline in need of shortening, anyway (one friend has been advocating not doing the shortening at all).

So, I got on the google machine and now I’m a little overwhelmed at the selection. Anyone use heel lifts for every so slightly too tall boots, and can recommend a good type to use?

I bought these when I got my new Dehners

They worked quite well for me while I waited for my boots to drop a bit.

I would think long and hard before getting a nice pair of boots shortened. They always drop more than you think. I’d definitely fool with some heel lifts for a while before doing something drastic like that. Equifit makes some really comfy stuff, I’d definitely start with the ones Due’s Mom recommends if I ever were in the situation of having too-tall boots, which for me is never going to happen :(.

I’ve used some like Due’s Mom. They slide a bit in your boots, so maybe try taping them down (or I forgot to use the sticky stuff they came with, can’t remember).

I also vote for slightly too tall boots. A friend recommends buying boots that come up mid-knee cap. I followed her advice and have been very happy with my extra tall boots. (of course they’re impossible to zip up all the way if I’ve eaten something salty, but that’s another story.)

These are second hand, and while lightly used, I’m not sure how much they’ll drop. But I’m strongly reconsidering it now. I actually dug up a pair of my Superfeets and they seem to give just enough lift.

Snaffle, they fit just like that with the Superfeet in, so maybe I’m on the right track.

I love these, and you can adjust them as the boots drop - http://www.amazon.com/Heel-Lift-Clearly-Adjustable-Medium/dp/B001TLIFJM/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1416541716&sr=8-6&keywords=Heel+lift

I had the Equifit ones, and IIRC they were made up of layers, so you could peel off a layer at a time as the boots dropped. They worked really well, my boots are perfect now and I no longer need them.

Yes, I have heel lifts in my slightly too tall boots, and they are perfect! If they drop, I will take them out. If they do not, then the lifts feel fine anyway. I have equifit, and yes they are layered so you can peel them off. I also have mountain horse, and they are perfect  Dont cut the Vogels lol!

I have the Mountain Horse variety, which came from Dover when the nice folks took pity on me when seeing how much my boots hadn’t dropped. I still have them in. Very comfortable to be standing in all day.

Instead of heel lifts I use the little red tack sponges under my heels. They’ve always worked well until my boots have dropped.
