It’s an old COTHism.

Agreed. Forums create engement and website views. You cant really scroll here without seeing a digital ad, and digital ads mean money.

But somehow the sky is falling and forums go poof.
Why would someone rip up a $100 bill?
You dont.
Stats are made on you checking in to talk.

I did too, and I laughed out loud. Then I found out it’s actually a COTH thing that’s nowhere near as funny and I’m totally disappointed.

I’ve had a favorite forum go poof. It does happen even with an active, engaged forum population.

Horse related tangent.

I remember a remark from somebody many years ago on the subject of grabbing leftover bags of shavings on the way out of a horse show.

As he put it, if you saw a five dollar bill on the ground, wouldn’t you pick it up? Of course you would. Lol.

Did the forum’s budget include revenue from selling print and digital ads?

I imagine so.

I wonder how long they’ll keep the printed magazine going.

well, I have been disappointed in the last year or so. It seems like I am reading Practical Horseman. Far less coverage of events, and more stable management. I realize most here have horses, and it is important, but the magazine has changed for the worse in my eyes. I am going to think long and hard before I sign on for another year. I am still waiting for the coverage of Pratroni. It will be a month when it comes out.

I was beginning to rethink my subscription too. The horse management articles are fine with me; it was a Master Class side bar with a multi-suspended trainer that was the turn off.

I prefer to read the hard copy of publications, so if/when COTH goes 100% digital, the decision to cancel will have been made for me.

Is Equus still published? I had been a subscriber since the first issue but let it lapse a a few months ago.
I’m sorry to see Dressage today gone

Dressage Today is no more?

It’s in a different format, and the print version is merged with Practical Horseman.
