Helgstrand Loses Bronze

Anyone else see this? Put an incredibly bad taste in my mouth as the horse was colicing the night before and they still chose to compete. Glad he’s getting some sort of punishment.

The two statements below from the article seem to tell a different story than the one that Helgstrand and team are saying.

“One of the drugs given (Traumeel) is primarily aimed at treating pain and inflammatory conditions in the musculoskeletal system.”

“the appeals committee finds it striking that a dose of the drug Traumeel four times larger than the recommended dose has been used.”

Thus why you (g) need to look “behind the curtain” and not be impressed by the big names. The horses tell you how they are being ridden and trained.

Never liked Helgstrand. I don’t believe animals should be used to create an empire in the way that the family has done.

Also seems suspicious that they would use Traumeel, which the main ingredient is Arnica Root, meant for muscle inflammation, for a supposed colic case

while Traumeel main ingredient may be arnicea, it also contains several herbs which are prohibited by USEF. If anything the FEI has far stricter drug rules, nearly zero tolerance

the forbidden ingredients include Belladonna and comfrey. Scopolomine and atropine which are drugs which require medical report ( in the case of USEF) are derived ( or found in) belladonna. Belladonna is an old remedy and often used in people to treat bowel issues as is comfrey.

isnt belladonna a muscle relaxant? (Name derived from its use in eyedrops that caused the pupils to dialate and so be “beautiful” in medieval ages? )

Yes and it also has effect on the muscles of the bowels. While homeopathic products work on the concept of micro dose, when you give a lot it is no longer a microdose. In toxicology , the death is in the dose
