Helmet equipt for equitation?

Most of the time I do hunters but I occasionally I will do a medal trip or a equitation division. I was wondering if this helmet would be appropriate for the equitation and hunter ring.

TIA:)

Of course. Have you sat and watched the ring at the sorts of shows where you’ll be competing? You’ll see that every third helmet will be that exact one.

I see from your other post that you’re just now starting A shows. That helmet is perfect if it fits your head and within your budget.

There used to be only two brands that people primarily saw at A rated shows and higher - post-certified helmets rule but before the boon of options we have now - Charles Owens and GPA. The COs looked more “traditional” and were usually on oval heads and the GPAs were a little less conventional looking and were usually on round heads. I remember when the first pictures of GPAs game out and everyone lost their collective minds. It was like OH MY GOD SO UGLY I’D NEVER WEAR THAT!! Soon they were seen everywhere on every head in every ring.

Now there are a lot more popular brands. Samshield and One K spring to mind. Other people will have more suggestions.

If you’re on a budget, IRH helmets come to mind as good looking helmets that will fit right in.

The most important thing is that the helmet fits and that you wear it!

What do you ride in now?

So long as it fits your head safely, then yes it is appropriate for any division you might enter.

that will be fine, although more people have black on black and forego the gray stripe. Up to you, though

OP, if you are on a tight budget, you may want to consider this one:

The only visual difference is the harness. In the show ring they look alike. This one costs less. You may want to go to a store to try it on first as some say it fits slightly differently.

This is the helmet I have now, but my head must’ve grown because this September I tried the size up and it fit me perfectly.

Then you’re golden - grey or black are fine! Good luck!

The less expensive JR8 has a very similar look but does fit a bit differently. That helmet is perfectly fine in any H/J ring and probably for most moderate level shows in eventing or dressage.

I have been told that CO handcasts all of their shells, so there could be a slight variance between helmets each time.

Not sure if this is actually true…but you should be fit checking helmets when you buy them anyways.

The best helmet for you to wear is the helmet that fits your head the best. Period.

Just make sure the CO fits snugly when you first get it, because they tend to break in a little bit. I wound up going one size down and it now fits perfectly.
