Helmet fitting woes for the weird shaped head?

I can’t be the only person who has a weird shaped head.

I’ve tried pretty much all Troxels and the closest fit was the troxel liberty which was just a tad too tight to be comfortable in. The Troxel galaxy with mips was just a tad too big. I liked it, but wasn’t sure I liked it enough to buy.

On to IRH helmets… I have an old Equi Lite and I loved it. The new ones are just too tight on the sides of my head. I guess they changed the size just enough that it doesn’t fit. I tried an IRH Equi Pro SV and again it’s a close fit but it sits on the top of my ears. If wasn’t sitting on my ears it would probably be okay. I may just try riding in it to see if it is tolerable for any length of time.

Ovation does not fit at all. I tried a Tuff Rider starter helmet and it fits from front to back, but wobbles from side to side. I tried the Tuff Rider Carbon Fiber in a medium and it was a big no.

6 3/4th is my hat size. Someone suggested I try a Tipperary? Any thoughts on what I should try next?

Have you tried a Charles Owen? I, too, have a small head and 6 3/4. The Owen I have right now is too big but it was a donor. But ones I had before fit nice, but I did have to stuff the front a tad to keep it from riding below my eyes.

Have you tried One K?

Contact Kim Chick at Fair Hill Saddlery. Supposedly a guru! I had a consultation with her and have her recommendations for my funky head on the way.

Uvex. Love them, the dial fit is magic. I won’t go back.

Troxels do not fit me at all. Tipperary fit me the same, both rocked front to back. Charles Owen was the best fit in a helmet I ever had, I didn’t even know I was wearing it. Maybe try one of those?

I just went and tried on a lot of helmets, and while the IRH Equi Pro SV “fit” I also felt like it sat on top of my ears/head. I wound up with a Charles Owen Kylo. It sat better on my head and felt right. I was skeptical because I’ve never fit a CO before, but COTH assured me it would probably work and they were right!

I almost got the IRH anyway because it was cheaper, but I am really happy with the CO and did my first ride in it last week.

I have a Uvex and I like it a lot. The dial is nice. In the summer I have a cooling beanie I can wear…just adjust the dial. I even lost some weight and my head got smaller…adjust the dial.

I think a lot of helmets have dials. I know they can break but I try to be gentle with mine.

Something to remember is that a dial doesn’t change the shape of the helmet… kind of like a saddle tree. If the general shape of the helmet doesn’t fit, a dial won’t fix it.
