With the current helmet sales I thought I would buy myself a new one, as the current one I have isn’t fitting well. Really wanted MIPS so tried the Trauma Void and it looks like I’m right in between sizes. I know you’re supposed to keep trying different brands and models until you find one that fits you perfectly, but that means suddenly jumping up in price over $150 Difference. Really don’t want to spend $300 on a helmet as I am not showing or anything. I bought the size small, it might be a little too tight but that would be better than too big, right?
I haven’t tried on the Trauma Voids (Lynx) yet, but I just ordered one today. I too am between sizes according to their size chart. I opted for the large instead of the medium. Did you get the medium to try as well? Since it has the dial in the back, it may be more comfortable to go bigger.
It does suck. It’s how I ended up with a Samshield. However, as a person who has had two concussions in the last five years (all not riding related) I’m speaking from experience when I say any price discrepancy between helmets will be quickly obliterated in the time you have to takeoff work for a concussion.
It is absolutely critical that you have a good fitting helmet. It doesn’t have to be the most expensive, but if the cheaper option doesn’t fit you and the more expensive one does, then you need to get the more expensive one. All helmets fit differently so keep trying other brands in your price range before throwing in the towel. But if your only recourse is a cheap one that doesn’t fit and an expensive one that does, get the one that fits.
I think I’m going to go back and try on the medium. Hope the one you ordered fits you well!
You too! I’ll report back with my findings once I receive it lol. Good luck in your search! It’s definitely a pain to find the right one sometimes.
With TraumaVoid, there are two different liners. It’s worth trying both if you’re between sizes. The second liner should be in the box.
After trying on many helmets, none of those with MIPS it me. I am long oval with a high forehead. Ended up getting a CO JR8 which fit like a glove. Wore it riding yesterday and after 40 minutes had a headache at the front of my head. Not really sure what that means, if it needs to be broken in or whatever or it’s not going to work.
This is true for the EQ3, but those come in individual sizes. The Lynx comes small, medium large and doesn’t have changeable liners.
To me a headache oh the front of your head means it’s not the right shape for your head. Did you get the JR8 round or oval? They make both now after many people couldn’t do a JR8.
It was the oval, was at Dover and they didn’t say anything about that model coming in another shape. I exchange it for the next size up which was more comfortable but it slipped slightly in the back. ended up exchanging the JR8 for the My PS, Which also slips slightly in the back. But I tried every helmet available in the store and none of them have a perfect fit. I do have an oddly shaped head so that could be why!
