This may or may not be a thing. I’ve noticed this summer that my helmets are starting to give me headaches. I’ve had this happen before this time of year last year. They just feel snug, both show helmet and schooling (show is 1/8” bigger to accommodate hair). Do human heads contract and expand with ambient temperature (half joking)? Has anyone else experienced similar discomfort and how did you deal with this? Do I just order next size up and layer up with bandanas?
If your helmet gives you headaches, it’s either toi tight (new haircut?) or the wrong shape.
Was it somehow squished?
Maybe the foam has tappered, you’re wearing them lower and the shape is wrong?
Can you feel discernible pressure points, or is it all-around too tight?
I purchased a helmet recently. Within the first ride it gave me a headache. The shape of that helmet is for round heads, I have an oval head.
I know CO fits me perfectly, its more geared towards oval shape heads. Sounds like this helmet doesn’t fit your shape.
Really? I was always told Charles Owen is for people with oval shaped heads. Thats the only brand that fits me well (or at least it was when I was in the market for a new helmet which was like a decade ago.)
CO makes round and oval shapes helmets, you need to ask for either.
You’re actually right, I got that backwards, updating my post!
@alibi_18 is actually right though, they do make for both shapes, but you have to ask. I think most common is their oval shape as I’ve never had issues.
I have a good helmet that I wear most of the time, but when it gets hot out I switch to a much lighter, looser (more comfortable) one. It may not be as safe as the heavier one, but I’m willing to take the (probably small) extra risk.

Sorry for the late response, I think coth has been having website issues and didn’t let me log in… Anyways it only happens in the summer so I’m not sure if it’s heat related. I remove the lining from my helmet which has a dial and layered up various amounts of bandannas. No pressure points. The headache was less pronounced but I noticed as I got hotter and hotter my headache got worse. Maybe I’m just overheating? But the rest of me is okay…
And on a similar related subject, how do you all prevent sweat from running into your eyes? Naturally as I get sweaty the sweat drops hit my eyes usually right around a canter departure or when I’m approaching a jump
