I had a similar struggle. I needed a new helmet (fall) but the only one they had in my size and budget had lots of bling. Both tack stores shared supply chain issues, so I ordered online because I was without a helmet and I couldn’t stomach the extreme bling. My personal viewpoint is if it’s an item I can compromise on or wait for them to order and get in, then I will so I continue to support local tack shops. If it’s an urgent item (like a helmet) that I can’t wait on and they don’t have an option that will work (really that’s just a helmet or shoes), I’ll look online.
