Hi Guys, I haven’t used my turnover hitch (for a gooseneck) in almost 20 years. I’ve been using a bp for the last almost 20 years. Don’t even know if its turned up or down. A friend’s truck broke down and wants to borrow mine to tow with her gooseneck trailer. I have no ideas what 20 years of “un-use” could do to a turnover hitch? She’s going to have a local mechanic type guy look at it, but what are issues with a very old turnover hitch. It was purchased in 2012 and used until 2015 roughly. Thankyou!
It’s might have some rust but it’s probably fine. The mechanic guy will be able to see. Grease the pin mechanism, flip her over, and go. I’d do an unloaded test run on the high way with turns both directions and a hard brake.
If the person inspecting it does not know what types of issues it might have with not being used for 20 years then your friend needs to have someone else look at it instead.
I would guess that as long as everything is structurally fine, it should be fine to use.
It is very generous of you to share your vehicle with your friend.
