All I know is the 16.5 = the saddle’s seat size…
I was attempting to decode several Antares serial #s earlier today myself. They are confusing. I think the 1N refers to flap, but I may be incorrect.
Well it’s a 16 1/5 seat, the flap 1N is a short flap in a regular position (as opposed to a forward flap), L is a regular seat width, and it’s the 197th saddle made in 2002. hope that helps!

I thought L was their wider seat…
L is their wider twist seat. It isn’t that the tree is wider but the twist where the rider sits is wider. Many women like this option.
SC is their half deep seat. C is the deep seat. I can’t remember how their flat seat is noted.
