Help find video: male rider, dressage?, bucking horse?

I can only remember a few things about the video.

Male rider, awesome ride, horse went nutso bucking/bolting, and I think indoor ring? And dressage I believe?

Help!

I think I remember the video you are referring to…or at least one like it. Was it the show when indoors, under lights (perhaps a spotlight…I see the rider in tails) where the horse is young and just loses it. Rider sits chilly and lets him deal and works through it?

Then there is the guy in the indoor presumably riding a young horse for the first time. They are chasing it with a longe whip?

I can’t find either.

Was it David Marcus at the London Olympics?

Not indoor, but he stays relaxed (even adjusting his hat!).

Oh that was such a shame, poor horse being so afraid, it makes my heart sink everytime I see it (the hat adjustment is the signal for retiring from the test btw)

No, not a show, was a home video. Link at the end of the video goes no where…

Eh, I don’t feel sorry for him, just find it mildly sad for the rider as it’s the OLYMPICS, but the horse was clearly over the rain and the ponchos and the whole deal. (Which is farther than I’d get with Lucky in rain like that. He’d plant his butt in the barn aisle and start singing the horsey rendition of “We Will Not Be Moved.”)

I know the video you speak of. Was in Germany perhaps?

this is the one I was thinking she was asking for, but I don’t know how to search for it, as I don’t remember of the title or description.

Me neither! Someone linked it, maybe from Eventing Nation?? There was a lot of talk about how no one knew who it was, and that the link at the end went no where, etc etc. ARGH!!

ETA I tried a TON of search keywords first, like “male” “dressage” “buck” “bucking” “ride” “rider” “good” etc etc etc.

Mike - where are you? Or another COTH’er will beat you to it.

i only found it because i remember the title was poorly translated.

regarding David Marcus at the Olympics - was there any explanation for the outburst? What a time to have a meltdown…he did well, under the circumstances.

I was wondering the same…

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Thanks!

Foxtrot’s & beowulf:
See danceronice’s post- I agree horse had just Had It.
Maybe that huge clap of thunder was the veritable Last Straw?
Prior to the hissyfit he was going quite nicely (IMHO).

Home video reminded me of a clinic I took with Armand Leone.
He got on a student’s big chestnut gelding, who then did his best to unload Armand.
Armand was wearing a throat mike & very calmly explained what he was doing throughout the bucking fit.
His position never seemed out of balance no matter what was going on underneath him. Very impressive
He later offered to buy the horse.

ahh, i don’t have sound on… i’m at work. there was thunder? that would do it!

The most memorable thing about David Marcus’ ride to me is when he comes out of the ring. His coach says “That’s horses!”. (Don’t know if it’s on the video link above, but I remember it well!) To me that’s the most generous, philosophical, sportsmanlike statement I’ve ever heard! I’ve used it several times since then myself!

ETA: that bucking video is

Nice stick tight seat on that German guy.

The link gave me an apaloosa bucking and bolting during a test- young woman aboard. Is this what you meant?
Oh wait, watched it again and this time got the rodeo! My goodness, what a performance! I like the way the rider gets him standing quietly at the end and pats him. I though for sure his unhelmetted head was going into the kickboards!
