Hello. I live in Texas and recently lost the love of my life (don’t tell my husband) when I had to put my OTTB down six weeks ago. I’m a competitive AA and will be likely heading to Ocala to try a few horses in January. I’d like some contacts if any of you have them for local trainers. My trainer is coming with me so can’t have an agent. Just need some advice. Thank you!

Have you looked in Texas? Tempus Eventing has a nice ISH (Rocktop Dreamer) that has been going Prelim for sale. I am in no way connected to Tempus Eventing, I just saw the horse posted on a site and thought she looked nice.

The spend depends on the horse. I’m more interested in the quality. My boy was an OTTB, I got him for $7500, we won all day long after I put in the work, and he was amazing. I grew up with race horses and he was priceless to me. Cost is relative to the seller. However, I’ll buy a Cooley horse if I want. I’m certainly not a “Gucci Girl” who only cares about labels or buying “that horse”. I just love beautiful, well trained, quality horses. Off the track or bred and raised. Don’t care about mare or gelding, breed or color, just the brain, will, and conformation. That’s why I have my trainer coming. I appreciate any contacts in Ocala being from Texas and thank you to those that have been offered. Been a tough time after losing my boy and I’m grateful the help.

I’ll give you another vote for Alex Green since I know she is stellar at matching horses and people. She tends to have Irish imports, plus some other state-side resales including TBs. She will also be helpful in connecting you to others who might have what you seek.

Hi!! Where are you located in TX? My former 3* horse is coming up for sale in mid January. For the past 15 months he has been leased out by a young rider in Dallas, she has successfully showed him at training level for the past year and finished in the ribbons at the AECs in 2019.He is a true packer-type and could easily take someone from their first BN to their first Prelim. He is a 12yo thoroughbred, I have not advertised him yet, but I am either hoping to find someone for him in TX, or I will take him down to FL to be sold later this winter.
Ben Taylor has brought a nice young horse from the UK. Horse is currently in GA waiting on Coggins test but will be in Ocala soon and stabling at Karen O’Connor’s.
