Help... For the iPad user... Live streaming?

I’m not a techy by a long shot, but I’ve tried all the links, suggestions, installs, etc offered on other threads, but I STILL can’t get anything to work.

I’m on an iPad2 and have Comcast for internet access (TV is ye old antenne).

What am I doing wrong??

Help please?

Hi–you’re probably doing everything right. This is a bad, buggy app. I’ve had trouble with it, too. It’s not working the way it should. If you want some company, read the reviews of it in the App store. There over 1100 one-star reviews, that detail all the troubles others are having with it There’s also a link there to some tech support that might help.

I just downloaded the app for my phone (droid). They do not have the XC streaming at all!!! I can see that it will be online at NBC’s site but that is blocked on my work computer.

I will keep checking my phone…

You have to plug in and update your iPad to a ios5 if it’s not updated already.

My ipad has been working with the live streaming all morning. Didn’t work yesterday at all however.

You have to have a cable package through one of the providers in order to log in. Having Comcast internet won’t cut it.

I have time warner but signed in with a temporary pass just by using my email address. I know my mother is trying to view it from work but her company has blocked it. If you are at work, could it be that your company has blocked the site?

You can do everything right and it still might not work (bad app). But as someone above mentioned, you do have to sign in showing you subscribe to sat/cable with MSNBC or CNBC in the package. Or do the 4 hour temp sign in. The app works really well for me watching commercials - I can watch those all day long. And some events, but not equestrian. Very frustrating.

I was a HAPPY GIRL because my live feed on the iPad worked like a treat today (unlike yesterday). I have Charter Cable and Internet and thank goodness, some combo of that got me in. I already loved my iPad but now the darn thing should be gold-plated because it’s AWESOME to watch the Olympics this way! Minimal commercials, fantastic camera work today, too.

The commentator was great, too, what little I was able to hear. For him to be intelligible I had to have the volume all the way up, but then the commercials were horribly loud. Since I was at work for most of the CC, that meant I had to have the sound off completely… shhhh, don’t tell!

(And I will be right back at it tomorrow morning. Feel guilty and stressed but dang, it’s the OLYMPICS and I’ve gotta watch!)

I had no problem getting the app up and running on my iPad, but the resolution was HORRIBLE.

Bleh. I’ll stick with the computer.

I too have IPad and Charter. Today was super SJ and yesterday’s CC, but I never got the second day of dressage. Have streamed to Apple TV box which is a huge improvement in sound quality. I too am not able to view complete videos. It is my understanding that the Apple products do not support adobe flas player which is necessary to watch the video. Is that correct?

I suspect the flash issue might be a big part of the problem. My iPad app never has allowed me to successfully watch more than a few minutes of the cross country, but I’ve been able to watch almost the entire thing on my PC through the NBC site (signing on with my Dish satellite login), which is using a flash player.

IPad streaming via Charter worked beautifully for me yesterday and Monday. Occasional glitches, which caused momentary freezing or blurriness, but those didn’t last long and I was able to see EVERYTHING. Minimal commercials, too! I was mainly at work or I would have tried going thru the Apple TV for better sound - I’ll have to try that this weekend, so thanks for that idea, Keribeau.

Yesterday’s stadium was a bit odd in that I had no commentary at all; it was strictly video. I missed our lovely commentator from XC! But if I was spared the insipid MST (although she does better at SJ than other phases, understandably) I guess that was ok.

My only complaint with the LiveApp, mentioned in another thread, is that if I try to watch archived video they have cut off at one point, and if you reopen, there is no “fast forward” so you’re doomed to go back to the beginning. A real bummer when you’re, say, two hours in to XC. But I solved that problem by pulling up the archived video on NBCOlympics.com online (PC at work - Macs at home, didn’t try one of them yet) instead. Once again, thanks to the mere coincidence of being a Charter Cable customer I had zero problem getting in. I normally HATE Charter with a fiery burning passion, as they’ve screwed me royally in the past, but right now I’m liking them quite a lot better.

Just downloaded an App, Skyfire, that solves the problem of Adobe Flash player not being available on Apple products. I can now watch full videos. Before getting this App.I was only able to see a few minutes of each video before it would stop. The App was $4.99, but well worth the price in order to view what I missed.

I will have to check that out. My doggy daycare has webcams that I can’t access via my iPad due to the flash issue, so if this allows me to work around it, that will be pretty cool!

Aside from the intermittent blurriness…

The LiveExtra app works great for live streaming, but they still haven’t fixed the replay problem. There was an update today which seemed to work as I was able to watch the first few rides, but then it crapped out. Grrrrrrrr!

I was able to use the iPad app to watch that controversial boxing match that was in the news earlier today – no problem, and it was a replay not live. But still can’t get any equestrian replays to work so I’ve just been watching that on my PC, which has worked beautifully. I just don’t have time to see all of it, that’s my only problem now!
