Okay, a few years ago I bought a group of used bridles. There is a bridle that confuses me. It’s a Passier. Forgive me, since I’m only a fledgling dressage rider having mostly ridden h/j, so my terminology may be off. It looks to me like a double bridle, but also has what looks like the shanks of a hackamore/hackabit. I took a pic of the shank part to see if anyone can tell me what this is. The two straps connected to the underside of the shank are sewn on. It doesn’t look like reins attach (and why would they with two bit pieces?) I’m puzzled! Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like a hackamore. Sewing reins on used to be a thing.
It’s what some people call a “lever” noseband. There’s another name but I can’t retrieve it at the moment. It’s for horses that pull hard, usually.
Here’s how it looks on a bridle - https://www.doversaddlery.com/nunn-finer-adj-lever-noseband/p/X1-0805/
Combination noseband?
That looks similar. If it was a hackamore, there doesn’t seem to be room for the reins.
Thanks!
Crescent noseband and and illegal for USDF competition.
Lever noseband. It’s intended to be used in conjunction with a bit, and is primarily for jumping.

Thanks, all. You all are great!
