Help! Looking for Jill from Gray Fox Farms

Sorry all - I just re-opened this thread, but have been replying to PMs. I have been tied up to my ying yang in all of this, I did not realize that people were waiting for updates. The update is the mare is still at the shippers (very kind people) and I am currently working on other arrangements for her to see if I can place her somewhere w/o losing my shirt. I am humbled by the offerings of help from people, thank you. I will try harder to post updates.

Glad your mare is well. I hope you can find her a suitable place.

obie, that is good to hear. I hope you are able to work out a nice situation for your mare.

Is JB writing bad checks or just not making any effort to pay anything?

In Wisconsin we have laws on writing worthless checks. Depending on the amount it is either a misdemeanor or a class 1 felony.

I would assume California has some sort of law such as this?

Obie great news.

Glad to hear good news, obie. Best of luck to you and your mare.

Of course we do! The problem is - not all county DAs have the time/manpower to go after “small potato crime”. I live in a county where the DA goes after bad checks AGRESSIVELY, but Jill is in a different county, and I’m guessing it isn’t their priority. White collar crime is not always a high priority. I use to work in a large county, and they didn’t prosecute fraud cases of less then $100k, and even then, it had to be handed to them on a silver platter (I tried bringing forward a few fraud cases tied up and ready to go, once even with a signed confession, but all were in the $5,000 to $25,000 range, so they weren’t interested). That is just a county by county issue, as law enforcement is largely funded by local taxes.

As for small claims court - IF there were wages, they could be garnished, except I think she’s incorporated, which protects personal assets. I believe you can also place some kind of lien on assets, although I’m not as sure on how that works. The problem is - she probably doesn’t have wages, and I’m pretty sure she incorporated GFF, so you can’t garnish her spouse or go beyond the corporate assets.

OP - your mare is in CA now? I bet you could find someone on this BB willing to lease her for a season or two! What are her bloodlines?

No dog in this fight at all (do not breed, do not buy babies, etc).

I just found this amusing.

Just wondering how many times one person can say good bye, they are not staying here, and keep posting. I think Kmsuds did it three or four times in this one thread.[/QUOTE]

Glad I could entertain you truble, you must be bored witless to go back and find how many times I posted on this thread. You are a perfect illustration of why most don’t post. Can’t talk to crazy nor to bricks. Guess that is your heads up to get your calculator out cause I may just post again!

Whos crazier the person that counts posts or the one responding to the proposed crazy … including said irony

Still trying to find a place for my mare. If anyone is interested please contact me. She is near Fresno at the shippers.

A little info about her:
1998 16.3 black by Graf Goetz out of Aleva (KWPN) by Lucky Boy
Oldenberg registered (19.162 HVB 98)

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/reindance

Sold her as a 3 yr old, did a little competing, lots of lessoning by an A/O starting in dressage -field injured and came back to me. Brought back numerous times but always went lame again.

I have had 2 foals by her - both were purchased by Wendy (Ritter) Peralta of Seabreeze Farm (top hunter/jumper/equitation barn - Nikko Ritter’s family)

Here are youtube links to those two foals:

Easy to breed, easy to foal, and easy to keep (as can be attested by her current situation living in someone’s back yard!)

email me for more…

thank you thank you thank you…

Obie, it seems as though someone would absolutely love to lease her, and give her a good situation. Hanoverian is trying hard to preserve the G-line and she has that on the top of her pedigree and Lucky Boy on the bottom! That’s a super pedigree and she’s a pretty and proven broodmare! Please keep us posted. You might want to post her lease situation on Facebook if she is GOV registered on Oldenburg Horses for Sale.

Very nice mare… GL with her…

I am so sorry you are in such a fix. I hope it works out for you quickly, she is lovely.

I don’t mean to be rude, but why can’t you just bring her home and lease her to someone closer to you where you can check on the situation?

In the end, it is less costly, better for the horse and less emotionally and economically problematic if you wind up with a bad lessor going that route, as it seems you did here.

Just a thought.

email me for more…

What is the email address?

For those of you that think its a great idea to keep mares and foals in unsheltered dirt lots in CA… REALLY?

I am not a breeder… but I have owned young horses. I searched long and hard for GREEN OPEN SPACE for my youngsters to grow up in. Yes, here is dry CA, you can find it.

Here are photos of Grey Fox Farm for those of you that aren’t as Google savy. you can clearly see mares and foals hagning around in dirt pens. No shelter, no grass, heck, I don’t even see any grass hey tossed for them to eat.

Is it abuse? No… the pens look clean, horses look fed. Is this place a mud hole come winter? Most likely, I have never seen pens in CA like these that do not turn into mud holes. Is it a place babies should be raised for sound minds and sound bodies? I don’t think so.

This lady sounds like a CROOK! OP… I hope your mare finds a good home. Sounds like you LUCKED OUT that she didn’t end up at GFF!

Ah, this is the mare who was on the broodmare-sharing lease - I wondered where she was located, but the post probably got lots of PM responses. Best of luck with her - she really seems lovely & I’m sorry you’ve had bad luck.

I am a Graf Goetz fan. I only got to sit on him a couple times, but I loved him.

Think we have contact  Obie somebody will email or call you in the morning

LOL, I was going to suggest to the OP that she contact Edgar and see if he had any recommendations!

Edgar, you are a peach for stepping forward and offering to help her.:smiley:
