Help! Looking for Jill from Gray Fox Farms
Just be thankful the horse never made it there and get her back home and be done with it. In the grand scheme of things you are one of the lucky ones. Just ask Diane.
I agree with the laugh or start crying feeling also. Too bad the emoticon just looks too damn happy, doesn’t convey the right feeling. I’ll save the real tears for blood and tragedy.

And funny how some posters also jumped to arms about disparaging this breeder on a past thread and then the stories continue popping up. Sometimes PSA work is warranted.

Help! Looking for Jill from Gray Fox Farms

Why??? Check the nearest Jail!!! Someone needs to make sure she ends up there ( where she belongs)

Breeders Beware!!! she is the most dishonest horse person out there!!! Her place is a Dump, She might be the next person on Horders, Between Broodmares, Babies and Bicycles, She has on her farm…

She needs to be CLOSED DOWN!!! & a vet needs to go geld her Stallions!!! They are Not the quality she says they are!!!

How to make friends online:

 1. Make a brand new account using some spiffy, made-up word and numbers.
 2. Make accusations based on claims you have heard about online. Personal experience is not needed.
 3. Call for ridiculous actions to be taken. Efficacy is mute.
 4. Use exorbitant amounts of punctuation to make sure people know you mean business. Boldface helps, too.

Result: FRIENDS!!!?&

Well there is an old saying - you lay down with dogs - you get up with fleas. Nothing personal to all the wonderful dogs out there!
I cannot stop being worried about all the horses at her farm.
Ok, done with this too. Have you actually been there? No? Didn’t think so. Well, I HAVE. Jill has a tiny farm, it is true. But her horses are spread out in several other fields that she leases, one four miles away. The only horses actually at her place are the stallions, the mares closest to foaling and whatever youngsters she is working with at the time. I saw every horse. They are FINE.

Is it an ideal farm such as we see out here? Absolutely not. But it works fine FOR HER. Do you really think her babies would look as good as they do if they weren’t healthy? Babies are IMPOSSIBLE to get to look good if they are in overall poor condition. The mares look exactly as they should. Is the place neat as a pin? No, she could definitely use some help in organization. But again, it works fine FOR HER.

As I said on the other thread, I am not addressing the financial issues. They are her business, not mine. But as almost no one here has actually been to her farm, I can address that. Let’s just try to deal in facts.

Laurie P - your words - your choice. So I have to presume you feel the woman who started this thread who has her mare stuck at the shipper’s farm and can’t reach Jill for weeks now is what? Just over -reacting? The shipper can’t reach her either and he hasn’t been paid.
You would be o.k. in the same situation?

As usual, you don’t know the entire story. And, because I don’t care for your scare tactics when you don’t know what you are talking about, I am not going to enlighten you. I have spoken to the mare owner, as has Jill (to the lady’s barn manager). The situation will be resolved shortly.

Where did the words “over reacting” come from? Not from me. I just stated FACTS, that you don’t have.

Laurie - your words " Jill has a tiny farm, it is true." and " Is it an ideal farm such as we see out here? Absolutely not. But it works fine FOR HER".

So it begs the question as to why she is leasing more mares to breed doesn’t it? I guess because you are in California and friend of Jill’s this all seems so simple to you. While the owner is 1500 miles away on the other side of the US wondering what is going on with her mare and not getting a response until this thread was started. Not exactly the way most people want to be doing business but you seem to feel it’s just fine.

Next time someone as a mare to lease, send them my way

To All whom wish to defend her. Have any of you sent your mares to her? Trusted her with money? Have you done a service for her and she has paid you? ( in full)

As far as making friends, I have plenty reputable ones. Also just want to say Thank you for the complement on my fancy name and numbers. I like it to… Also I have been to her farm! Have any of you? That are defending her. I never said the horses were starving or looked bad. YET, but what happens when she can’t rob anymore people? And the money stops coming in?

Sincerely Scarlett2383. (fancy name& numbers)

I noticed in the results on horseshowtime.com that a baby owned by Gray Fox Farms was showing in the hunter breeding at the Northern Winter Classic last weekend. Maybe she was watching in Sacramento, CA. Look it up. I will leave it at that.

Interesting that Junior out there handling all her yearlings - East goes West - though doubt he was holding 3 in one class

Now that I looked, congrats to Sue Lightner ! Thanks LoveHorses

Yeah, those Redwine babies look like real dogs. Not really my deal but nice looking horses nonetheless. Regardless of the woman’s apparently sleazy and disorganized business practices I wouldn’t really say her stallions are not producing nice horses.

I have my own dealings with Jill. Several …this is just one…

Jill had purchased the renown mare Grand Affair and wanted her sister…Grande Divina Both were confirmed in foal to GFF stallions. Grand Affair foal to Redwine -she had a colt - Rain Boots. Grande Divina had a 2010 Aloha filly later named Accessorized.
I had just consigned Divina at Leesburg’s 2009 Fall Hunter & Sporthorse Auction. She negotiated to buy . A deal was struck but she backed out of the deal and I ended up sending Divina to the auction. FINE. Jill bid by Phone. As soon as her name circulated …the bidding stopped. She ended up with her. I left the grounds unsure of who was going to care for Divina. I was told she may go out the next day.

Grande Divina stood in a stall at Morven Park long after the auction ended. She ended up shipping from there a few weeks later. Grand Affair loaded in PA …not a roomy box stall but a tied straight stall. I was horrified !! They shipped out …standing and tied…to California. That was simply cheap & inhumane.
inhumane…cruel, savage, brutal, severe, harsh, grim, unkind, heartless, atrocious, unsympathetic, unfeeling, uncompassionate
I never knew the good soul who took care of Divina those days/weeks in VA… thank them for their humanity in dealing with Jill Burnell’s lack of concern for “her” new purchase.

OP…turn that horse around!!!

You will have regrets beyond those you have now. Perhaps you can lease her to a credible person on her way back home!!

YES…know how valuable this mare is…I owned her dam…the Lucky Boy daughter. She has a wonderful son Grande Phoenix showing in the hunters. It is so disheartening that your girl is out there…somewhere.

And for those who don’t care about the mares & babies standing in those small paddocks…I DO!!! GFF (Jill Burnell) is located on a public road in full view… you don’t have to live there…I have my sources. It is sickening to hear Jill Burnell is actively expanding her already burgeoning load of “TOP producers”.:no::no:
The worst case scenario of grossly overextending for the Love of Greed!

Sketcher - one would hope with so MANY bred - many out of the gosh knows how MANY mares JB seems to have collected - that some would look good! But it will be some time before one knows HOW good “looking” good is

I guess what is baffling is that one hears of unpaid bills etc - fairly well documented actually - and yet “showing” is in the budget ? Certainly a perplexing operation.

This is still heartbreaking to me as I had looked at Grande Divina earlier that week and REALLY wanted to buy her, but since she was in foal, she was (understandably) out of my price range. Hopefully she and her fabulous “sister” are doing well…

I am a huge fan of Grand Affair and have been for years. Have worried about her since the moment Jill issues began popping up including some first hand speculations that the mares did not all look well.

The place seems more like a puppy mill then a breeding farm … so so sad!

As to the OP my best advice… do not pass go ship your mare home.

Thanks HC & H@…Never seen anything like this…with a bit of illumination…Maybe this situation will come to an end…soon. Jill was elusive when she wanted to be. It’s ironic the OP’s mare is out of one of my former mares! (THAT is really spooky!) We can only hope Karma is with the “Sisters” as they are baby machines to GFF.
They will forever be . . .“My Girls”. Thanks… my most precious Valentine and Saber.

:raised skeptical eyebrow: I’m definitely not defending her, but rather being critical of how you go about introducing yourself to the forum. Generally, anonymous members build a repertoire of posts to build credibility. Otherwise, people might think that someone is making a bunch of alters to theatrically defame someone else with no accountability.
