I would love to get my mare Diamonette ( Enough Said) back from Jill. IrishHills sold her to Jill without my knowledge. I had asked several times to have first right to buy her back, and was told repeatedly she would never be sold. IF anyone has knowledge that she might be sold, I would sure love a heads up.

a vet needs to go geld her Stallions!!! They are Not the quality she says they are!!!
’
Have you actually even seen pictures of her stallions? Pictures the stallions’ foals? What is your definition of “quality”?
Sure, many SO’s put more hype into their stallions and their kids than maybe they deserve - should those stallions all be gelded too because they aren’t the “quality” the SO says they are?
BTW- please, nobody confuse me with the “JB” being tossed around here
So Laurie P and Junior are partners and Jill is their client?

I can’t comment on her horsekeeping without first-hand recent knowledge, but I’ve seen Redwine and I’ve seen some of his foals, and he is worthy of being a stallion. Don’t blame the boys for whatever is going wrong at GFF!

Jackpot!
Objectivity on the issue? Hard to believe.

Yes.
And they promote GFF on their website:
Unfortunately, turning a blind eye in this industry is all too common. Particularly when your check clears, and you are in the ribbons - anyone can rationalize anything if they want to.
I don’t post much on boards. However, this is a topic near and dear to my heart. My beloved mare Grand Affair was sold to Jill. I sold her based on the fact that her “reputation” at the time was stellar. I sold her the mare, and was promised she would have a good home forever, and if she couldn’t keep her anymore, she would come home to me to retire. I was approached at a horse show by a professional about Jill. He said he’d heard I’d sold Grand Affair to GFF. He then went on to ask me how I can manage to get Jill on the phone. He had been trying unsuccessfully for days to reach her. Since he had one of her stallions in training, I found this VERY strange. Things went south with her, more information became public. I won’t go into details, but learn from my mistake. Do your homework, all of it, before you let one of your girls go out there. A fancy website and blinging foals, does not a reputation make.
I feel bad for the OP, its very doubtful you will be able to reach her. Get your girl turned around and sent home to you ASAP.
I was going to bite my tongue on this one…but I guess you can include me in your category of cheap and inhumane. We regularly ship horses to and from Canada and normally reserve a standing stall…that includes mares in foal. I’m not sure why it would be considered inhumane? The reputable shippers stop each night along the route, unload the horses and they are stabled overnight in boxstalls in layover barns. Despite what you might think, they do NOT stand tied in a tie stall for three days straight until they get to their destination…at least not with the reputable shippers. With the addition of air ride brakes in the big 15 horse vans, it’s quite a comfy ride!

Perhaps you can provide some tips on how you and Junior get Jill to pay you with checks that actually clear the bank? I am sure the various trainers, registries, stallion testing groups, shippers, vets, farriers, feed and hay suppliers, customers, etc., who hold bounced checks from her would love to know your secret.
I have no dog in this fight, but writing bad checks is a criminal offense. Like, a go to jail offense.
If she has allegedly bounced as many checks as some posters are claiming, why has no one taken her to court?
Yet another example of when you sell a horse, it’s sold, and all the first rights of refusal and promises to give the horse a good home are no guarantee that a horse will end up in a good situation. Especially if you take the horse to a public sale or auction.
I am sorry for the OP – I am sure you had a reason you wanted to lease your broodmare.
I have absolutely NO dog in this fight but I am certainly finding the hysteria a bit off-putting.
-
geld her stallions? Really?
-
horses routinely ship in straight stalls. Sorry, “cruel, savage, brutal”?? Please, hysteria doesn’t help your cause at all.
-
When you sell a horse as a broodmare, SHE GETS BRED. Probably every year. It really seems like talking out of both sides of your mouth to then refer to your FORMER horse using words like “puppy mill” and “baby-maker”. You sold her to be a baby maker!
That’s all. I don’t know the person, I don’t know the OP, but hysteria destroys credibility every time.

I have my own dealings with Jill. Several …this is just one…
Jill had purchased the renown mare Grand Affair and wanted her sister…Grande Divina Both were confirmed in foal to GFF stallions. Grand Affair foal to Redwine -she had a colt - Rain Boots. Grande Divina had a 2010 Aloha filly later named Accessorized.
Slight hijack but whatever became of Rain Boots? I sure liked him (love my chrome) and fantasized about buying him. Is he currently showing on the line or what?
Thanks
paint hunter: I have no idea, but after seeing this thread (sorry OP–how stressful!!) noticed she was posting on Facebook yesterday evening about various sale horses–you could check there.

Results are available on USEF. Showed twice in Hunter Breeding in 2011.
Jill does not own this horse.
Sorry I failed to state…3150 miles Virgina to California
In November In a slant load trailer for a large warmblood mare in foal.
Wanna bet that wasn’t an air ride?
When was she taken off and rested? I don’t know.
That’s all I know.
The long and the short of it is, dishonest is dishonest. There is no middle ground. You are either a truthful person or you are not. Next question is; “do you want to do business with a dishonest person?” The answer to that question is the answer to this problem outlined above.
If this was my mare, she’d be on her way home immediately. So sorry for your stress OP.
Kwill, I’m posting the link which just recently closed, stating facts about the arrest warrants, pending court cases, and hot checks written by Jill Burnell. Several well known trainers have taken her to court, though she has missed at least two court dates, to my knowledge. I covered two of her hot checks, before ending any business with her. http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339380
The fact that reputable people continue to attempt to do business with her is bewildering to me, consider the amount of business lost to those same people because of their known affiliation with Gray Fox Farm.

Perhaps you should read more carefully.
In your reach for a response …the hysteria is yours…I did not use the the “words” you used.
I have been a warmblood breeder for over 30 years. Often, my mares are sought out for breeding. Their future homes are considered when I sell them. Grande Divina would be going with her full sister Grand Affair. They were pasture mates before they were sold. At the time we were discussing the sale Jill was considered a “good home for life”.
Please concentrate on the OP’s issue…
I am a huge fan of Grand Affair and have been for years. Have worried about her since the moment Jill issues began popping up including some first hand speculations that the mares did not all look well.
The place seems more like a puppy mill then a breeding farm … so so sad!
As to the OP my best advice… do not pass go ship your mare home.

Thanks HC & H@…Never seen anything like this…with a bit of illumination…Maybe this situation will come to an end…soon. Jill was elusive when she wanted to be. It’s ironic the OP’s mare is out of one of my former mares! (THAT is really spooky!) We can only hope Karma is with the “Sisters” as they are baby machines to GFF.
They will forever be . . .“My Girls”. Thanks… my most precious Valentine and Saber.
