Help Me Find New Western Boots!

i need opinions and suggestions on new boots! i will be buying online ( i have no time to go try on) and as of right now i am struggling.

I will say now, i will NOT buy Justin boots. I got a new pair a month and a half ago and i have ran them into the ground already. sides are split, stitching coming apart, and it was not even hard work! They were just in the beginning of busy season!

I prefer a more slim boot, so none of the “Fat Baby” style boots. (besides… seen way too many people nearly die riding in those things)

I need a square toe, they are the only style of boot that has not caused my toes pain as i have really weird feet! Not the kind that narrow down into a tiny square that may as well be pointed, but a genuine square toe boot.

I prefer a longer shaft, 12 inch is ideal or even longer. the more protection on my lower legs the better!

It seems so many boots now days are designed for fashion, and not meant for work or abuse!

The best pair of boots i ever had were a pair of Tony Lamas that lasted me nearly 3 years, best most comfortable boot i ever had and of course it seems that they no longer exist! Of course my luck!

Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh and they run pretty true to street shoe size.

My Ariats have been going strong for 5 years (and have a couple more years in them still I think.) I wear the crap out of them, mucking, hiking, riding and I’ll admit that I hardly ever clean them.

I have those ones, but they are not long enough for what you want, otherwise I’d suggest them.

Shepler’s has great boots, including plenty of Tony Lamas.

I love Anderson Bean work boots. My other favorites are Lucchese with square toes but they were pricey. Once you figure out the sizing it’s easy to buy online and get a good fit. I have a high instep and it has been hard to find western boots that don’t kill to get on and off.

Depending on how much you want to spend, I agree with Lucchese, Anderson Bean and on the cheaper end Boulet. Been wearing the same pair of Boulets for several years for work. Been resoled a few times, mud, shit, water, still going.

Love my Boulet boots, well worth a look

Canada West boots.
For serious.

My mother bought me a pair used when I was about 13 years old for $20 at a tack swap. That was over 10 years ago. Who knows how old these things are and how many miles they have seen.

They still fit, and have been worn for riding at least twice a week for the last 6+ years. I also wear them for barn chores. I do not wear them to muck out though - I avoid the urine. I use rubber boots for that - I don’t like torturing my leather products. However, manure, mud, dirt, etc. is fair game!

The inside sole needs to be replaced. The glue has let go in the last year. That is all. Heels are still good, leather cleans up really well.

These things are worth their weight in gold.

I have some Twisted X buckaroo style boots that I really like. They last me a couple of years, being generally abused.

Here is a similar pair:

The style I have is a little different, with a pointier toe. They just made the boot longer, it looked like I had too-big boots on to my eye but the footbed was super comfy and fit great. So I wouldn’t fuss too much about the particular toe in this brand of boot.

They aren’t cheap, but they have lasted very well for me and are great to ride in.

And if you watch, sometimes you can find them on a ‘blowout sale’ or eBay for cheaper.

I have the Ariat Crossfire Caballeros. They are comfortable but I don’t know how they wear because I don’t wear them often. They are tall and square toed though.

I love my Boulet boots for riding, but for longevity, my vote goes to Rocky. It can be difficult to find Rocky boots with leather soles though.
