I just purchased a stunning 16.3h APHA/AQHA Mare and her show name Is “Expect a Show”, her barn name is Audry and I’m not a fan of the name. I want something elegant/strong. What would you guys name her?
I always say to use something meaningful to you. Some thing that reflects or touches on a favorite memory, a place you have lived, admired artist or work of art, or maybe a song lyric. Mine are all named after types of trees where I was raised (current one is Willow). ,
Do you want a new barn name to replace Audry?
Or a new show name? If she’s already shown APHA/AQHA I don’t believe you can change that. But you could come up with something different if you like for open or USEF shows.

If you’re looking for an elegant, strong barn name, Elizabeth would be a good choice.
But on any horse older than a youngster, I hesitate to change their barn name. Some people think it’s bad luck, but I worry more that the horse may be used to their call name. That’s how I’ve ended up with horses whose nicknames include Wally, Gus, Hazel and Betty.
