Help pricing Circle Y tack?

Hello all,

I’m new to the western section of CoTH, so I was hoping you might be able to help me. Several years ago (ok, late 90s) I was given a pair of brand new, Circle Y equitation show saddles with matching headstalls, reins, and breast collars. I’ve probably sat in them each a half dozen times - western pleasure just wasn’t for me. Since I am not into western, I am not sure how to price them for sale.

One is light in color, with a dark suede seat (no seat marks…), silver trim, extensive tooling, and is 17". The other is very dark brown, with minimal silver and is 15". Both in immaculate, like new condition. What might they be worth to sell? Is there a market for them?

Thanks!

I’d try to find saddles like them on E-Bay, that would give you at least an idea. There is always a market for Circle Y saddles and tack, it shouldn’t be hard to move them. I haven’t looked lately so don’t know exactly what they’re bringing now.

To give you some idea, six years ago I purchased a Circle Y used equitation set off of ebay, hand made and with gorgeous silver on it, including jewelers gold trim. It came with matching bridle and breast collar. I paid only $700 and was the only bidder. That set was in gorgeous condition, not a scratch on it, no fading, nothing. I got a great bargain. Since that time I’ve tuned in to Circle Y sets on ebay and they don’t sell well at all; however, if you put them on some other sites like Horse Clicks, etc., they seem to sell at a pretty good price. In the last six years, since I really started paying attention, ebay is the last place I would go to sell my set if I were to actually part with it (which probably wont happen).

Last yeat I bought a dark oil Circle Y full silver for under $700 off Horseclicks. I am sure it was a bit cheaper due to dark oil not being popular but I LOVE that saddle and when time comes to buy another, I would look for another Circle Y, possibly a med oil.

Circly Y light oil show saddles at the local consignment store are priced between $1100-1700. I’ve seen them go for between $700-1200 on ebay.

For the darker saddle w/ little silver I’d say somewhere between $500-800.

The rest of the tack may or may not add any value, depending on the bidder. It will probably be too ‘dated’ to interest the more serious show people but might be a plus for someone showing local or less competitive 4H circuits.

You can get the serial number off the saddle and find out what model and year it is, then do an internet search to see what they are selling for.
