Help rules Gurus! Is a bellyband legal in competition?

My horse is shedding and is very sensitive to getting rubs during this time. At the HT last weekend I did not wear a spur. During a conversation at the SJ warm up I mentioned that at home I ride him with a bellyband, one of the Sj stewards said that I could have used it as it was legal for jumping phases. I didn’t think that you could. The TD was busy as they were running XC as well so we couldn’t get clarification. Does anyone know are bellybands legal in the jumping phases of HT’s?

I don’t think there’s anything in the USEF rules either way. I would email USEF and try to get a written ruling that you can print out and show to the TD.

Do you jump at home in the band? I use them in training and on trail rides but haven’t jumped and I would worry that it could slip.

I don’t quite get your connection between not using a spur and the belly band.

I think you and the OP are talking about different things - pretty sure from the context that the OP means this - https://www.equifit.net/product/bellyband/
Don’t know about legality though.

I don’t know about the US but they are legal in UK for BE & FEI, so I’d imagine US rules follow FEI too

This is not a legal answer, but I did note a couple of horses with them on XC at Red Hills a couple weekends ago.
